Or maybe that's what they want you to think, announce it was a joke a few days later and then release Vietnam + PR 1.0(Since it was hinted that they will come together if I recall correctly)...

I remembered those hints from older posts that weren't done on april fools..
Writing that line in the thread was a part of their plan.

This sorta thing is why I love this dev-team ... they know how to keep us in absolute wonder at what they're going to do next.

At first, I was like OMG NEW RELEASE DATE IT HAS TO BE
But then I saw the April Fools filename ... DAMNIT I WANT TO BELIEVE

Just opened the site to see the April fools joke and found it, so I'm sure it is one.

Why i think that it is a joke:
- Though we have April 1st the title in big letters tells Friday, April 6th - I know it is the "release" date and is in the future, but the idea is clear: distract from April 1st.

- as already mentioned in this thread: no beta, no pre-release versions, the folder of the images

- it doesn't make sense to merge Armies of different eras in one mod, except you want maps with these different armies for a kind of "what if", but PR is not that kind of mod, but a "realistic" one.

- EOD:BF2 discontinued because of lack of players, BF:Vietnam was never as popular as BF1942 or BF2, why should an new Vietnam mod have more success? Why should devs work on it?
