Bump.

Only happens with over 50 players weirdly now, I don't really mind but it is annoying joining under 50 player servers, becuase the rest are 50+

any help?

There seems to be two kind of connection problems:

1. "Your connection to the server has been lost"

You will get this message e.g. when server crashes. You are send back to main menu and you will see this message.

I don't have advise how to solve this one as I myself will get it only when server crashes.

2. "There is a problem with your connection"

You will get this message when your level has been loaded and you are starting to see the spawn menu map. Message is written on top of spawn map, not in main menu. After that you probably will get message n.o 1, I don't remember anymore.

This problem is most likely caused VoIP and firewall interference. It occurs on populated servers when VoIP traffic is started between client and server. Because of server strain VoIP packets get delayed and thus recognized as DoS attack by some firewalls. To test whether it is VoIP related or not just simply switch off your VoIP in BF2 sound settings menu. If you don't get the error anymore you need to check your firewalls and test which one is blocking your VoIP traffic. Most likely it is the harware firewall of your router. You may need to try different routers to solve the problem.

If your Internet Service Provider has own firewalls or you have some kind of shared connection you need to contact administrator of that connection. (I don't know how common it is to have ISP firewalls, but I would guess they are rare.)

Some more info e.g. in this thread:
https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f26-pr ... post701249

This advise about VoIP and firewall interference came originally from EA TechSupport so you could also contact them for further assistance.

I have just tested and i can confirm that VOIP is the culprit for the "Connection problems" error.
I turned off VOIP and boom, completely smooth gameplay, not one Connection problems message.

Now the thing is, how to get it to not lag WITH VOIP?

Any ideas?

Lower you EAX settings?
Run in hardware and
Lower your mike from 1 channel,16 bit,3200Hz(FM radio quality) to say 8 bit,11025Hz (telephone quality)?]
I would hope anything that reduces the data stream to the server would be helpful.
Don't play on servers that ping over 200

I have the same problem where I can play Game, regardless of the map/game type, for only a matter of minutes before being kicked because " Connection to server lost". This happens in every game and happens in Bf2 as well? Any ideas on how to solve this would be much appreciated. I'd like to play a game for more than 5 minutes.

Thanks

Core2Duo E6750, 2GB DDR2 800mhz, EVGA 8600GT

I have tried every single solution in this thread, ALONG with re-installing, and I still get this error.. I'll play for about 5 minutes.. get "There is a problem with your connection", and then i lose connection to the server.

For me the "AMD Dualcore optimizer" helped, since then I can play for hours without disconnect from my PCs side. Maybe there is such thing for Intel chips. Just ask google and pls give sum feedback if it worked.

Thank you, sir.

This did it for me. At least I think so; no problems whatsoever anymore. What a beautiful mod, the 0.8

If someone tells you "I feel sick, can anybody help me?", what would you think?

It's the same here, before the community can help you, provide some more infos:
- Did you install the BF2 patch 1.41?
- Have you updated punkbuster
- Did you install PR v0.8 core AND levels
- GAME-resolution at 1024x768 or higher?

-What System do you have? (XP, Vista, graphic card, RAM, CPU, etc.)

Did you search the forum before you posted here? Guess not... On the previous page my last post tells you about the infos...
But because I am a nice guy, maybe try these:

Post 2

In case you solve your problem it would be nice when you give some feedback here!
Good luck

You HAVE TO install the BF patch v1.41 in order to get PR running, thats one of many steps you have to do ;)
Hope, the patch will solve your problem, if not just feel free to post again and we'll try to find a solution :)
