why are you questioning me on how i waste my time and what's important to me? i see other people on these forums nitpick about considerably smaller details.[R-COM]BloodBane611 wrote:Why waste your time debating a name?

Great jobs Devs, another masterpiece of work like it always be.
shame that I won't be able to play this map, due to the outstanding stuff that'll create lots of lovely lags and maybe burn up my GPU... of amazement![Razz :-P](./images/smilies/icon_razz.gif)

I know, but think of it like a Special forces sneak attack from a unsuspected civilian ship. The element of surpriseProceed wrote:I absolutely agree with the first point - The Devs have done so much good work, I would not expect anyone to do anything ...( exept changing Karbala US Main DOD - no just a gag).
Though seeing Russians attacking from a civilian ship looks unprofessional, I'm glad we have a new map and for the map I don't care where the Russians attack from - it could even be a wooden platform upon the sea, just wanted to state that the Russian army would not attack from a container ship.
On the second point I disagree - The Russians have a Naval Base in Tartus Syria about ~ 100 km North of Beirut, now it is being restored for Russian Naval presence in the Mediterranean, but ships can still dock there, and they do that ...

Hibernative, calm down. As Bosco said it was made as an urban map in the Lebanon region, and named Beirut later. You've and a guy from the Lebanon have made the point that you don't think it looks like Beirut, thanks, its been noted and maybe something will change, but getting angry isnt helping.....

You know Muttrah isn't a carbon copy of the actual Muttrah city either, the layout is, so stop with the uber puritan claims that all maps have to be modeled precisely to an inch after the real life location they're named after.
And yes, some maps are first made, then named, if you don't like it, make your own.

i'm really not angry. i just wanted to know why it's named beirut when i agreed with a couple of friends that it didn't look like beirut to us.[R-DEV]Drav wrote:Hibernative, calm down. however, others in this thread seems to be.

hey, i understand that you might be spoiled with the lack of criticisms in this section of the forum, but you don't have to retaliate to "omg make your own" when i'm asking a question about the name of the map.And yes, some maps are first made, then named, if you don't like it, make your own.

I agree, and i'd like to see it mixed up a little more between different maps although I do still enjoy the match up. I think the main issue here though is that in this context it is not appropriate for the Russians to be packing anything heavier than a BTR as they are attacking from the sea, and the BMP-3's water issues are not yet fixed. They know they're gonna be up against some heavy armour, so they bring appropriate equipment.google wrote:Buuut, must DEVs always resort to the TOW vs Tank setup. While I appreciate assymetrical balance, it seems that the DEVs are constantly resorting to this kind of setup for assymetrical balance. Why not try something different, like giving the IDF a tank or two but no APCs. Russia could then get a BMP and some BTRs. Just something different.
In addition, the Russian APCs are much better than the IDF's.

Indeed, I hear the US Army overran the RL counterpart of the bunker complex on Kashan during the last gulf war.hiberNative wrote: not "exact", and because everything else in the mod seems to bear a resemblance to its real life counterpart.
some who had played project reality commented that playing PR was the best training they could have had, the bunkers even had the secret toilet entrance.
or Barracuda, the DEV team got their hands on super secrate chinese missle island plans and used them to contruct the map
or Qwai, the Chinese village elder begged the R-DEV team to make a version of his village in PR to help boost tourism.
or we've entered the stupid dimension.
If it plays releastically, then its good, doesn't have to be based on a googlemap.
Realism is in the gameplay.

because a setting resembling the real life counterpart and identical recreations of every nook and cranny are the same thing.[R-CON]Rudd wrote:Indeed, I hear the US Army overran the RL counterpart of the bunker complex on Kashan during the last gulf war.

but sure, let's stop discussing this. i'm just gonna go have a discussion with myself about it... then create a pine forest map and call it "operation grenada". i won't tolerate any questions about it!
i am looking forward to try this map though.

Dude, ffs read hiberNatives posts before spawning BS... He never said that the map should be made exactly like the city, he just said that it's weird to name it Beirut, when in fact, it looks nothing like Beirut.[R-CON]Rudd wrote:Indeed, I hear the US Army overran the RL counterpart of the bunker complex on Kashan during the last gulf war.

And IMO, he's right. ( In before "zomg make ur own map!!11"No I'm not saying that the map sucks, just that the naming is weird), It's kinda like naming a map "Caledonian Forest" or whatever and making a map full of palms.
This forum is becoming all weird. When people post as much as a little hint of critisism they get jumped by 5 angry dudes going "HURR DURR MAKE UR OWN MAP/MOD/MODEL/whatever, THE DEVS ARE DOING THIS FOR THEMSELVES DON'T LIKE IT, DON'T PLAY IT"
I mean, WTF? People care waaay too much about negative feedback. If you are making something for yourself and just letting others play it, awesome. But why the hell are you then caring THIS much about negative feedback? If you see feedback you don't like, Jesus Christ, just ignore the damn thing (or make a thread complaining about it).

Welcome to release chaos, the forum is often like this around this time as tempers get frayed with team members working their asses off and the public demanding more and more with everything they see.Kirra wrote:This forum is becoming all weird. Believe me these threads are read and what is being said is taken on board. People will disagree, we are only human you must simply state your opinion with as much civility as possible. Unfortunately, as this is the internet, that doesn't always happen.
