Speaking for myself only, please tell me how you keep your server's so stable when other ones are crashing around you? Might help other server's be as stable. At the end of the day we are all here for the same reason..

Unless it's a close guarded secret, no pun intended.

Hey Tit4, I do not think we have any secrets and I can tell you, most of the people have the feeling we crash even more. Overall I think it's just the PR Gods. PR on itself is just not as stable and sometimes you run well and sometimes you dont.

Btw just like every server we have some scripts enabled and some not for example, but most of that is already in the SA (project reality admin) forums which MERK has obviously acces to as well.

Believe me if we find something that crashes the server less we will let everyone know.

PRTA admin bring the game into disrepute

Post by Sam Harris »

Oh dear, well this is about as bad as it can get when it comes to PR looking really bad to normal, polite, rational people...

A little earlier I joined a PRTA server with a friend, hopefully to use AA vehicles. At the beginning of the round in the lobby, I attempted politely to ask "Hey I know AA isn't claimable, but I just wondered if anyone else was planning to go for it when it spawns?".

I got a few words in before some little anonymous internet person starts shouting "shut the fuck up!". No surprise there ...there internet will always contain those people. That's why we have admins, right?

Wrong.

After proceeding with my question, I notice that good old viirus (some player who just plays PR and does nothing else all the time for years) decides to air his personal grudge by abusing the !r feature, and reporting ME for spam.

OK, so fine, that's why we have admins, right?

Wrong.

...Of course as the admin is his friend, the person asking the polite question gets kicked, while the anonymous sociopath screaming "shut the fuck up" remains on the server.

It's hard to imagine the role of admin being misused much more blatantly.

Can we not have an environment where it's possible for a player to calmly ask a polite question in a lobby without being kicked?

I mean OK, it only took us a few seconds to find another server with non-corrupt admins and non-autistic players, but still that's not the point. Come on PRTA, sort it out!

People will always remain people, don't expect them to change. Also it always depends on the people who are online, for example different times on different servers get different responses, people will always be different circumstances will always be different. Also I myself have been diagnosed with a form of autism so that is kind of offensive in the way you use it.

Also this forum is used for the discussion of PR, not to complain which server is better or what admin is ****. Please keep these kinds of things on the proper subforums or the clan's own website.

The briefing time ("lobby") is not really good place to ask questions on some servers since some squads are actually trying to brief their squad members, so that's why they said "shut the fuck up". You are not supposed to spam local ("H").

Some servers allow music spamming during the briefing time, PRTA does not. If someone tells you to stop, you do it. That's their rule. If you keep spamming microphone, it's usually a kick.

Since my question was material to the round and potentially to the organisation of other squads, it was by no means spam.

Ah, missed that. Thanks.

Yeah, people are different. I wouldn't bother with the clan's website though. If their admin recruitment process is that poor, I doubt their forum moderation is particularly fair or even-handed.

It was my intention to amuse rather than offend with "non-autistic". In fairness to the autistic community though, I shall in future allude to viirus instead using "monotone humourless obsessive CAS whore".

Cheers.

I've kicked people from clans and whatnot for talking in local. Simply because your curiosity does not go above 49 people trying to listen or organize themselfs in their respective squads.

You can click "K" or "J" and get just as good an answer.

People often miss text chat at the start of the round, particularly while in the kit selection screen.

Also, "curiosity" seems like a rather misleading word there. It was a question about the team's strategy rather than mere idle curiosity.

The trouble with having a completely inflexible attitude towards lobby chat is that it can result in the absurd and unfair situation where a player gets four words into a polite question, then gets interrupted with a stream of shouting and swearing, ...and you end up taking no action against the player hurling abuse, and instead BANNING the player who politely enquired about the rest of his team's plans to use AA!!! (which has actually happened here!!!)

If you think that really is a fair and reasonable way to run a server, then go ahead and uphold my ban. Otherwise, in calm and sober moment, perhaps you might consider lifting it.

Cheers.

Yep this is a clear cut case of you thinking that you may talk in local after 2 minutes. I do not care if you are being polite about it. You assume because you are polite it is ok to talk over 49 other people. It is not. It is like being in an auditorium and interupting a main speaker or shouting over 49 other people all talking in their groups to figure out their own plan of action, not appropriate.

If you were a Squadleader you can enquire the other SLs using *
If you were a squadmember you can ask your SL about the plan using the squad radio.

If this is not how you want to play PR, then try to find another server to play on.
