I have a Connection to Server Timed out problem.

Running Vista, Dual Core. Firewall Disabled. Sound settings all the way low. Disabled EAX.
*It will not let me disable VOIP.

My ping is below 100 in the servers i join, no lag, but still suffer the bad connection or connection timed out. ESC works 25% of the time, fairly annoying.

I dont have any of these problems in BF2, so i dont think i need to reformat my PC nor reinstall BF2 or PR.

Any ideas?!?!?

Maybe try to put the "BF2.exe" and the "PR.exe" on just one core...
Don't know how it works on vista, in XP it was after starting the game got to task manager - processes, right click on the process set affinity to only one of the CPUs.

Tried it, wont work. Seems like this time once i connected to the server and everything loaded up i was dropped immediatly :( . I just dont know what to do this is frustrating.

Get rid of Vista :D

Sry, but I'm also out of ideas now... For me the AMD Dualcore Optimizer did it. Good luck anyway!

First of all:
You don't get faster help if you write more than one time that you need help.
Second: You won't get any help if you don't read this thread and follow simple rules:
- What system do you have? (CPU, OS, GPU, etc.)
- What did you already try to fix your problem?

"I also need help, I open my car, try to start it, but nothing happens!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I need help"
Know what I mean?

And did you ever hear of "Multiple exclamation marks are a sure sign of a diseased mind"? ;)

- Did you install the BF2 patch 1.41? Yes
- Have you updated punkbuster Yes
- Did you install PR v0.8 core AND levels Yes- GAME-resolution at 1024x768 or higher? Yes

-What System do you have? XP

Right then Let me explain my problem

I load up everything fine and i coneect to a server

it says joining and boots me to my desktop

I tried the ESC trick but seeming it boots me to my desktop and mot the main page that doesn't work

I tried local and that doesnt work meaning its not an internet problem

I dont understand the trick to do with Windows Task Manager - i found bf2.exe and also pr.exe or something like that but how/what do you change???

Thanks

I don't know if will help with your problem, but the thing with the task manager goes like this:
RIGHT click on bf2.exe and PR.exe and then click on "Zugehörigkeit festlegen" (Don't know in english, sry), after that tick only 1 of your CPU cores (standard is that all cores are ticked).
For better understanding see the 2 pics attached. Good luck!

EDIT: If that doesn't work, maybe try another graphics driver, I had the problem with Need for speed that it loaded to my desktop until I changed the driver.

I don't think you miss sth. I think you don't have a dual- or multicor CPU.
You just have a singlecore right? ;)

Okay here is my problem:
1.first I installed core and map pack.
2.after all of that was done I opened the game clicked on internet and went to play a game.
3. then after 3-5 seconds PR exits out and goes to desktop.
*notes:*
My battlefield 2 and battlefield 2 special forces work fine. ((Just had a thought maybe i need to uninstall battlefield spec forces))
It is not internet problem when I try to play local the maps do not come up even thought I am sure i installed it.
HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

^Search CTD next time and you'll probably find like 50 threads about it. ;)

Make sure you're resolution is at 1024*768 or above, else it'll CTD upon server selection. If you require it to be any less, though, follow these instructions to fix the problem.

Welcome to the forums. :-)

Well, I bought a proper computer, started it up, it ran fine, tried to go on Chicago H server, and I lost connection, just like I did on my crappy computer, so it's not a hardware problem.

But I do have a good connection, 16mb download and 2mb upload, and I still get it. I have a friend that plays with DSL(which is somewhere around 1 meg), and he's in Canada, but he runs it fine..
only get the error on some servers, like: TacticalGamer, HeroS(I think pb sleep might have helped me stay for a little bit)Rip Rusty, Chicago H, and a few others that I forgot. I used to run fine, then all of a sudden I would freeze, VOIP would loop, and my view would move to the side maybe then the "Wind" sound, followed by the main menu music.
All my ports are forwarded, and I haven't changed my router or anything.

Could it just be a problem with EA, or Gamespy? It doesn't seem to be that servers in Europe don't work, for instance I get the worst pings on Russian Reality and the LT server, but I don't lose connection when I play them.

my god can a mod separate these topics somehow?

theres answers to like 4 different problems besides the one in the title. i read all 10 pages and i think im more confused about the other stuff than when i started.

thank god the ESC trick works for me but only if its the specific problem of "problem with your coneection" after playing for 5-10+ minutes. not when you first connect to the server i'm sure that a different issue also stiking esc 1x wont do it i need to hit it at least 5x quickly dunno why less than that and i still get kicked. i think it also has to do with how fast you get to the esc button after seeing the message.

it also still re occurs about every hour . sometimes more.

I tried Pressing ESC when I get the connection problem, didnt work.

I can't play on any servers, "there is a problem with your connection" appears just as I am going to select a kit etc.

Any Ideas, please?

It seems the only 3 servers that allow me to stay are the CHICAGO servers
And the EEF server

LOL guess we're not getting any help then?
this is getting stupid now this thread is 10 pages and its happening to alot more people and not one thing is getting done about it. aslong as the admins are ok and they can play fine, they're not botherd one bit about the people that can't play which is a real shame because PR is one of the best games out right now.
And yes ive read all the comments on every page and tryed everything i possible can to get this working and of course ive installed everything, pb, core and levels i aint that stupid and most of the people that play this game aint.
this really needs to get sorted, its getting annoying and very boring, getting disconnected all the time

until it gets sorted im playing Arma Good luck the rest of you :-(
