Yes, although the combat area will be limited to about half the map.

For WW2 2kms are mostly enough. Even with 100 players Carentan never feels too crowded(outside the beginning of the rounds) due to the lower combat distance, and so did St.Lo and Assault on Brecourt back in 0.97 - though admittedly that was with 64 players.
VTRaptor: but i only stopped for less than 10 secs and that fucking awesome dude put 2 of them

]CIA[ SwampFox: well my definition of glitching is using an enemy kit to kill the enemy

Just_Dave: i have a list about PR players, and they r categorized by their skill

Para: You sir are an arse and not what the game or our community needs.

AlonTavor: Is that a German trying to make me concentrate?

Heavy Death: join PRTA instead - Teamwork is a must there.

Well, for typical inf battles 2x2 is enough. However in future with more tanks and planes 2x2 willll be little too small.

True, and fair enough! Still, it would be cool to have a true 4 km x 4 km, especially for armor and planes, just like it was mentioned above! Tactical possibilities in maps like Kassel would be endless.

There is nothing wrong with large maps. let players to decide what they want to do. I think it is better to not force players. by the way release it. :D

It's mostly about performance, you can't really get a 4km map with large amounts of detail without killing the framerate. The planes will have the full 4km area to play with while the inf and tanks have the more detailed 2km area, which is a pretty good compromise wouldn't you think?

Also a bit bummed for not using the majority of the map, but then again, there will not be engagements over 300-400m anyway.

It's still going to be the majority of the map. More than half will be playable by infantry, which is more than 2 x 2km maps...

It is a good compromise indeed. Will it leave the door open to be real 4x4 if gameplay feedback demands so? (after some optimization).

This is a bad decision, to be honest, I do not understand why this should be done if there are already maps like Yamaliya, Black Gold, which are 4x4, but have a nice FPS.

Nobody needs these restrictions.

Also I hope, we will see viewscale distance more than 1000 m, like on Bamyan

If someone play on 2010-12 computer it is pretty honest he has about 25-40 FPS and it is ok, I have computer 2015, and all maps works good about 80-100 FPS, even GAZA, Sbeneh 45-60 FPS

you know, I didn't have any problem with 4km maps personally so why should I be opposite to these areas! :D
at this point/time, in my opinion these things are not important. release it then we can discuss about issues and these stuffs can be changed by a simple patch. :D
I am really waiting. ( I know I have to keep waiting )

It will be a mistake to consider that 100 players will be comfortable on a 2km map, above someone wrote that Carentan is suitable for 100 people, in fact there are places where it simply turns into a mash, for example Bunker and the City. PRWW2 need at least one large map of 4 km without any restrictions, so that everyone can feel big scale.

"These changes will ruin the mod and I haven't even played it yet"

Let's first get this thing out the door, before jumping to conclusions or even start discussions about unreleased stuff ;) .
