Ask the (WW2-DEVS) a question ?

We're dealing with a bunch of bad or missing third person animations. Since we don't have a dedicated animator we can only do so much.
If we don't fix these annoyances now, we probably never will, leaving the end product in a bad shape. The drive to get these fixed is there, but it might (will) dissappear if we release now.
We're also exporting some new weapons (and vehicles) that we hope to have ingame as well.
All in all we're still moving forward and hope we can give you more intel in the near future. This is it for now I'm afraid.

Re: Ask the (WW2-DEVS) a question ?
I'm betting when this releases it is going to give a huge population boost and I'd rather see it fully ready by then instead of releasing it now.
I don't know if it has been asked before and I haven't played the beta, but will there be a flamethrower in this to root out pesky bunkers? Also, will there be more/less/different "classes" (kits) than regular PR?

guys, release it now regardless of all problems ( beta was good even with those problems and we all were happy about it ) otherwise it will never be released. you don't have enough manpower so if you think you can release a highly polished game so you are absolutely wrong. 2 years elapsed since beta and if you want to delay it more there will no be players to play it. I don't understand your obsession about PRWW2!!!! guys do you have OCD!!!
I remember it so bright. there were problems in those 3 maps but they were so few and maps were more than 90% complete and all players had much fun in them.

Re: Ask the (WW2-DEVS) a question ?
Listen guys, AfterDune is right. Some things need to have fixed animations, and some even need to be exported from scratch. I have decided to try and get some of the missing content animated by a guy that joined BFK this past week. He is a prominent animator, and it was discussed that I will try and get these missing weapons exported for PR. Animators for BF2 are pretty hard to come by, or at least those willing to work on teams. It is time consuming and the majority of new weapons seem to be addons people are porting from BF3-4.
But yes, just be patient. I too want to see PR:WW2 done and also expanded, as I admit I also have more fun in historical FPS than modern ones, so PR:WW2 is right up my alley.
Just be sure we are trying to get 3 weapons animated very soon. I have also sent AfterDune a nice Mauser C96, M712 Schnellfeure maschinepistole and a Smith & Wesson .38 Special/Model 10 revolver. It is my hope that we can provide more great content to PR in the future to benefit both communities.
I have even had to push back updates to BFK when things didn't pan out as quickly as we had planned them to. We have only had the first release, the update still hasn't come. So pushing a release back is disappointing but the finished product will be better when it eventually comes.

Very legit answer and reason. Thanks![R-DEV]AfterDune wrote:We're dealing with a bunch of bad or missing third person animations. Since we don't have a dedicated animator we can only do so much.

Do you have like requests/application like things posted on special animation forums? Guess there must be forums like that around with members which would like to animate for a bf2 game which is played by a couple of thousand people.
I might want to help looking for interested people if needed.

do you know if a game is forgotten, nobody will play it and it means the time and energy that was spent by developers will be wasted for nothing. ( a dead game is not like that game will be in a basement with dust on it ) what I am talking about is unnecessary development. this game could be released one year ago and then devs could update it by patch or gameupdates or whatever you call it. it is a known way in game industry. nothing is perfect.Aleksa2000SM wrote:And what we will get way you suggest? you know at last I think when it will be released there will be me and 5-6 peoples from this thread ( true lovers of PRWW2 ) and a few peoples from PR ( because of ww2 unreal explosive fake excitement that last few weeks not more ) so we will be at most 20 players in a server where we must act like commandos and search all over a map to find each other and then boom. after a while it will be called PRWW2-Commandos.

Re: Ask the (WW2-DEVS) a question ?
I don't know about time and energy wasted. I've learned immense amounts of modelling skills from working with PRWW2, Photoshop skills (they still suck haha), exporting to a game engine / workflows, etc. That being said I want to see it as much as the next person, always a blast to play.shahram wrote:do you know if a game is forgotten, nobody will play it and it means the time and energy that was spent by developments will be wasted for nothing. Little more than just that. Bugged/missing animations (bazooka currently uses pistol grip, etc), plus all the code-behind that needs to be updated to current specs to integrate with vanilla in the first place.robert357 wrote:We have bugged E-106 map in PR, but they are afraid release WWII mod that looks fine in BETA.
I feel like this is becoming a broken record scenario, lol. There's been a lot of changes for the core PRWW2 team, people grow up and free time runs short. If you want to see it faster ask how to help. Otherwise we aren't be paid, we do what we can while we can around our lives. Sorry for the harsh reality.

I still hope to see FOB mechanics that are bit different from what we have in current PR. Using such pillboxes to fortify would be awesome and it shouldn't be a big task - just give the current FOB pillbox antena or a faction flag(or both xd) to make it different from the normal sandbag pillboxes. Hell... Sandbag pillboxes with MG would be even better.VTRaptor wrote:I really liked the WW2 FOB. Can we possibly get more of these as deployable pillboxes ? Would be nice addition to fortifying fob with foxholes and MGs.

It takes much time, but I am sure this will be better than Arma3 IF, Day of Infamy, CoD etc But it is just my opinion)

Not really anything worth mentioning. A bunch of us were on holiday during the summer and no real work gets done then.
We're working on our M1919A6 (the US MG). The model is all done and we recently acquired some animations for it. When we have it working nicely, we'll show you.
Hope to bring you more goodies soon (tm).

I am saying it again. you can bring those three maps (omaha, carentan and marville) to PR (they are ready) and then you can add more contents/maps later so it will not a problem that it takes too much time.

Generally speaking, everything in modding is about 3 times as complicated as the average forum-dwelling armchair developer realizes.

This next screenshot doesn't say anything and the numbers change daily, but here's where we're at right now:
