Question - is PRV gonna be released?

Answer - some very dedicated people are working on it, they don't want to waste their time; so provisional answer is yes (barring some disaster) Can we guarentee it'll be released with 100% honesty? No we can't we can't promise anything because that would be unfair on the public, just like how we want to reach at least 1.0 for standard PR, we want to release PRV.

Question - is PRV taking too long to develop?

Answer - no, the same DEVs working on PRV are also working on standard PR, 2 free pieces of content for the community; of which some members seem to believe the PR Team should be held to the same scheduals as a corporate game designer.

Question - is it helpful or motivating for PRV DEVs to read thread like this and the locked one?

Answer - no, some of the posts are pretty disrespectful, petulant, inpatient, immature or just plain lacking any useful content; I'd even go as far to say threads like this and the locked one damaged PR Team morale as a whole. (demotivating work on our other projects other than PRV) We like constructive feedback, positive or negative. We love constructive feedback like an alcoholic likes whiskey, even when its contrary to where our work had gone so far ("Don't like X, so do Y"). We don't like people being mouthy to us, and we don't like people insinuating things about the PR team when most forum goers haven't got a clue about the realities of modding. **** happens gentlemen, people's priorities change, their RL gets in the way or they lose interest; perhaps on account of an ungrateful minority of forum goers (who knows?). While I don't want forum goers to be kiss asses, I certainly want them to be reasonable and respectful - being respectful of both other forum goers and the PR team; as we should all be both online and IRL to whomever has not wronged us. The forum rules you agree to when you register are pretty simple to abide by, if you don't like them there are infinite other websites you can post where our rules don't apply.

Question - can you help PRV?

Answer - yes, there are a wide variety of roles to utilise in order to produce PRV or mods in general. I'd recommend mapping to people who lack modelling, coding, texturing or other complicated skillsets (though those same skills actually help make good maps) if you want to have a go, just check out the tutorial lists that the PR team put a significant amount of time organising (and writing in many cases) for the community.

So, do you want to tell us that PR:V could be closed forever?
Also, the next version of PR will be 1.0? Will be PR:V included in the next update of the standart PR?

PRV is pencilled in for a 1.0 release.

Devs seriously, dont care if people hate and rage about vietnam. Let them hate and rage. Just keep on going and ignore the hate.
It drops your morale if some random guy yells you something stupid on the street? At least I find it kinda funny if that happens.

Seriously I just post here to get my postcount up lol.

good to hear the news Matrox.

me me me, man people these days need to realize they are not entitled to have something. Are we paying for this? NO. Did the devs even promise us this? NO, no they didn't. all they did was say "hey we're gonna try and make this." so if it doesn't work out and this never finishes are we entitled to an opinion on the matter beyond "well that's too bad..." ? NOOOOOO.

@Rock and others like him: This mod like any other mod is made by the devs as a hobby using their own time and resources. If you feel dissatisfied by it's slow progress or condition, go make it yourself. Modeling + rigging, UV mapping + Texturing, Coding + debugging, and Animation all take significant amounts of time and require endless cycles of tests and revisions.

I happen to agree with Bringerof_D. I hate the people that are currently bitching and moaning over the BETA of PR:Arma2. It's a TEST, we're not PLAYING it,(technically) were TESTING it, and reporting any bugs we find(Restraining someone is freaking FUN!) Devs, don't let snot nosed kiddies demoralize you, always remember this:

Your small but more loyal/understanding fans are alot better than a big mass of braindead mindless "fans" :D

I totally agree. I am the lead developer of IDF:FFI, which a lot of you have probably heard of (a BSS mod).

I recently revived it from the dead earlier this year. We only have 3 active developers who all have very time-consuming IRL obligations (myself included) so development is slow. People ***** and moan more than I would have expected ("IS THIS DEAD?" after a month of no update).

We do this on our spare time. We are not entitled to do this by anyone. We enjoy modding, but people take it for granted and feel obligated to get IT FAST.

Quick question, one I may seem rather foolish for asking but I'd rather ask the question than keep on searching.

PR:V, the mod will be using what base version of the game? I'm assuming vBF2 mod? but IIRC there is a vBF2:Vietnam mod already? Just a wee bit confused about all this.

EoD (the mod you refer to) is a close ally of PR's and we're working with them to achieve all our aims :)

Awesome! It's amazing what such an old and "outdated" game engine can do. :)

Good luck guys!

I don't mean to preach. but I would rather have the DEVs using the time they give to us to respond to whining or "if its going to happen or not" and use that time to actually develop the game. Besides its a free mod, and who wants to be working on a free mod when they could be at a real job, or spending time with family and friends or whatever. Give it a break. Asking if its going to happen or not isn't really motivating. The most you can do is be patient and submit ideas. Or actually help develop the mod.
That's all i gotta say.

Stop posting in this way! "Bla-bla-bla, I think that it is their mod, bla-bla-bla, they haven't got free time, bla-bla-bla, grenade incoming, bla-bla-bla!"
We all understood, that developers are busy too. But each time, you (all who posted in this way) come and write here how smart you are and that others are impatient etc.
We understood!
