[AAR] Epic FOB

I forgot what day this was, but its was on the =H= server. Now without me noticing i was defending a cache with a GIANT FOB right over the hill. Now when i walk up to it I saw this
After i saw this i said **** it im just going to run up there and see how many kills i can get. Within moments insurgents come out of nowhere and it becomes a USMC turkey shoot.
As we start burning everything, sadly an apc comes and kills me and others, but FOB was never rebuilt. In the End we won the round and the moral of the story is: once in a while a team rush is necessary rather than a sdg rush.

Large FOBs are rendered pretty much useless if the enemy uses their mortars.

Yeah its unfortunate that FOB's become more pointless as more assets are added.

step 1

repeat until mortar attack ends

And build the whole FOB again while insurgents are attacking it

screw building teh FOB during an attack, if the insurgents are within a couple of hundred meters then you'll not be able to spawn on it anyway, returning fire is the preferable option - especially if your inside one of your nice foxholes, survive the barrage and fight off the attack; the fob can be rebuilt but people cannot

Or you could hide the firebase in a little nook and not worry about it being seen from hundreds of meters in the first place.

Sorry Rudd, no crates means no FOB. You'll just end up with a foxhole network!

Yup, a good mortar barrage will destroy the crates and will make the (destroyed) FOB disappear.
This is why I never take the trouble to build larger FOBs, unless they're in an overlooking position. Simply hiding the thing is tons more effective than making a fortress out of it.

thats why you build foxholes before the mortars arrive....dead fob is still just a dead fob...dead squad is a load of tickets closer to defeat.
2 foxholes will save your men's lives, see all that time they wasted on wire? foxholes would have been better.

But building a fortress is just so coooooooolllll, like the one you can build at operation barracuda when you just completely makeover the aircontrol tower to an actual castle

Seems a bit self defeating though? Building a fob knowing you're going to get mortared.
Fair enough as a contingency, best contingency in my opinion is the SPRINT key though!

If you build any asset and have the time (I see a lot of wire, so you must had the time) build foxholes - not even a C4 planted right on it can destroy them, so my guess is that if a bombcar comes foxholes can keep you alive - wire can't.

the only resone they built the fob was so they could see this
END OF ROUND
US:ARMY======== INSURGENTS
1337 FOBS========= APC RAPE
10000000 Points ========== 2000 POINTS
Fob on inurgency are only help full for just zerg rushing the enemy.
Unless you have the whole team on mumble and you can have people acuualy defending it =_=

you have to ask that? Cmon, its cover! cover of any kind helps you survive.
More foxholes! Always build foxholes, Wire the perimetre to force chokepoints/halt cars, claymores at said chokepoints, and glorious M2 nests to the rear.
Also, why do people not use the FOP as a foxhole. I find it quite effective to hide in, especially since people seem to be looking elsewhere for enemies, so I end up firing undetected for extended periods of time in an engagements.
