Yeah AD posted something in the internal forums about having a springfield version for the US. Not sure about the germans though. Could be REALLY usefull to take out cannons and MGs when on the beach.

There are snipers in PN, but they haven't been made available yet. Mainly because I didn't have a model for it. The existing snipers use the normal M1 Garand en K98, but don't have any scopes. They do have zoom however, but that's all there is to it.

I believe I found a sniperversion of the M1 Garand in BF Korea, so have to check that out yet. But I need a scoped K98 as well then.

I haven't made the unscoped-weapons-with-zoom available, because I wanted to see how the beach landings would be like first. I don't mind enabling it, if more people want it. But you gotta realize it's the same old M1 Garand en K98 model, with zoom, without actual scopes.

So what you're saying there are actual snipers that have zoom just like any scoped but they don't have scopes? I can live with that. But if needed not sure if you can borrow one from FH2?

Yeah they zoom a bit like the PKM does. With an artificial aim like the bazooka.

Also, PR use the Lee Enfield No.4 sniper model from FH2. Maybe it could be used as a placeholder for the americans?

Ye taliban faction has it SMLE No4 I believe? K98 can be taked from FH2 I dont think you will need approval for a rifle model...eh?

i think that having snipers from the beginnig will just make people snipe from the boats . it will definetely break the nice gameplay the map has now.

Is it possible to make sniper kits unavailable for request, but drop them in random positions on the beach?
For example, u have made it to the shore line on the beach , u are alive , and u find a sniper kit in the mortar hole :)

As i remember PR had some pickable kits in the past on ghost train and somewhere else.

Well, it's the fact that snipers would be a nice add too AFTER the beach landings ;)

Also, sniping from the boats isn't bad, they will be limited and the boats are easy targets for cannons and what not.

Im also not sure how is the thing with sniping range from boats to shore? Sure thing WW2 snipers cant have range and accuracy as nowadays sniper rifles. Also that would mean if snipers are available at start that other side could snipe the boats too? Maybe not make them as pickup kit if its more complicated, but make them available for request after some certain condition is met, like capping a flag?

There would only be 2 sniper kits by team, like in PR. Sniping from boats is not a problem, a german just got to grab a cannon and boom, or an MG and supress.

Sniping people off a boat moving would be hard and while being supressed by the MGs.

And also, WW2 snipers were accurate and had a good range, don't be afraid ;) . Most WW2 bolt action rifles have a better range then many today's weapons like the M16 for exemple.

Agreed totally!

I dont say that implementing snipers is a bad idea, i like sniper kits too and in PN they will be the deadliest thing on the map :)
. But im just a little bit afraid of gameplay turning into
1.snipers clear the cannons and mgs from great distance
2. US move in without any significant pressure from wermacht.

Have you just compared m16 to smle no4 and k98k? Those are two different types of weapons meant for different things, and even if you compare them m16 has a slight larger effective range ( iron sights ) but calibers are not the same.
I was speaking more in terms of scopes and how advanced they were/are

Am I the only one here logically against snipers in this particular map? If you want to test them fine but quite honestly they don't fit in my opinion.

People are just going to horde them and run off on their own in a locked squad of one and "go four teh killz". I don't respect these type of players and we have enough of them in the other mod iterations.

Sorry but sniping from from the Higgins boat sounds absolutely retarded. People are not going to utilize it they way some here are suggesting/intending... but whatever.

I understand your concern, but the Lee Enfield was standard equipment of the British Army and Canadian in WWII.

In the future if new maps are released ​​with the beaches Gold, Juno and Sword where British and Canadians landed the gun is ready for use. ;-)

In my view, a sniper on the landing will not help the squad until you prone and shoot in the middle of shooting of the mg and guns, you die and lose the kit, to leave the beachhead you need more teamwork, that have seen enough times that I played all the PN

The way it was done the game is perfectly correct, leave it for a future when there are maps that actually there is a need to use these weapons.

I know, I said a placeholder, untill we get another model. But I don't see how a sniper kit would not be cool on this map.

Lots of people tend to think that the map is only the beach then it's over. What about sniping enemies in the Commander Center? In the Mortar Battery? In the fields? The map will contain more buildings for the next release, hopefully. And I think a sniper kit would be great for BOTH teams.

A sniper on the beach WOULD be usefull because this way when all the team is moving, you, as a sniper, could stay behind near a tank trap or another cover, like behind the boats and shoot out the MGs or cannons.

Hi guys this is my first post on this forum, and just as silly said i would like to see the sniper kit on PN as a request kit, but not like PR. I mean, it can only be requested when the squad is full with six players, and not with 2 like on PR, it would be good and help with the teamwork. It would be just like in the movie :D .

^This is interesting. Only requestable if you are a 4 men in the squad (minimum). 6 is a bit too much I think.
