Periodical ping spikes

Post by Navo »

Alright, because of this problem I am unable to play FPS's properly.
My router is the UBEE EVW3200.

As you can see, my ping will spike to about 200/300ms every 30 seconds or so before dropping back to a steady 20ms.

What could be causing this problem? Do I need to give more specs? I have no clue what the problem is here.

I have same thing on PR mostly - nearly every 30 seconds ping goes to from stable 60-70 to 180-300 on German located server. It also shows up on very intense moments like enemy is in front of you but you have spike up to 500, game freezes and after few seconds you are dead.

I have different router though - D-LINK DIR 300

Navo,
Having trouble helping you because all the Ubee documentation is in Dutch.

YOU have a known problem with your router...

The solution is in this thread:

Cossack, my first response is, D-Link is the worst company in the world. I owned a 605(Worst N router ever made!, 615 (I bought a second D-Link, I am a glutton for punishment!), 635 (I smashed it to pieces)

Ok, Cossack, do you connect your PC to dir 300 with wire or with wireless?

Supposedly D-Link put out new firmware for all the DIR3XX models that is supposed to fix some of this. So maybe flash to new Firmware.

Secondly, this is a usual problem for wireless if there is interference....

With your router turned off, look at all available networks. Try to find a channel (1, 6, or 11 in the USA, I do not know what channels Latvia uses, sorry, ) that is not in use or has the weakest signals. Set your router to that channel.

Thanks for your help!

The problem described in that thread is the problem I am having, however; The OP does state that he also had a lagspike problem with my router, and that he replaced it. That could be an option.

Cossack channel 1 or 6 others have too much interference. Pretty sure Latvia is still running old school ( Non EU standards in that field, since you run on a 2,4ghz freq )

Ha, NO it wasn't. I've smashed a D-Link though, didn't think about filming it at the time.

Haha, okay. I remember playing with a couple of times with you on TG, and I watched that video and thought "Jesus, he didn't sound like a crusty old f*** when we played".
