Razer Lachesis 5600dpi problem.

Hello all.

I have bought a brand new razer mouse in hope of replacing my old one. However i am having trouble with it due to it disconnecting partially and randomly. By randomly i mean it varies between 30 minutes and 3 hours. By partially i mean:

-mouse does not respond to movement.
-clicking and lighting on it still works.

Right at the beginning i found that reconnecting it to the usb port helps making it move again. This issue still persists even though I :

-reinstalled drivers.
-made sure it is clean.
-plugged it in other ports.

I contacted the razer support team but as expected they were clueless.

My system specs are:
OS: Windows vista 64bit.
GPU: Geforce GTX 295
CPU: Intel i7 2,67ghz quad core.

I realize that probably only the OS might matter in this case. I am currently using this mouse but due to the random nature i am having trouble testing it on other computers.

Any helps is very much welcome because this is quite annoying especially while gaming.

What surface are you using it on? Some of these new mice are quite picky :P ... Other than that, I'd say return it as faulty...

Also make sure the surface is 100% clean, no hairs or dust, with high precision laser mice, they tend to freeze up if they detect anything out of the ordinary. Have this problem a few times on my Saitek R.A.T. except it stops working in 1 axis only, as it has 2 sensors, meaning I'm either stuck looking up + down, or left and right :P (Until I tap it on the table to shake the dust off xD )

How well does the USB plug seat into the ports? I've owned a few Razer's and one of the things I've noticed about some of my previous ones is that they don't seat as well. Also, are you installing the drivers off of the disc or downloading from the website? The last 2 I've had (including my current one) only came with Win7 drivers. So I would suggest double checking the website and making sure you have the latest drivers and firmware (if applicable).

I use it on a mouse pad. Roccat sota to be exact. Its cleaned well with no dust or chunks. I also make sure the laser at the bottom side is clean. How ever i actually notice 2 small bubbles formed in the fluid in it.

I guess it is a little bit loose but not that much. The port it self is far away so i am unable to hit it in any way. The drivers are the most recent ones razer released and downloaded off their site. They are for my OS.

Are you saying you're at the max length of the mouse's cable or that it just doesn't plug in the full length of the port?

Here, I searched this. Quite a few people with the same/similar problem. Try giving some of the suggestion fixes a try.

Razer Lachesis + Lycosa randomly stop working

Hey thanks for finding that forum thread. I am at the moment trying to run the mouse with no drivers at all and see if that helps.

Considering the mouse cord tension: No its has quite a bit slack on it. It is just the fact that the usb port is positioned in such way that i cannot hit it.

After using the mouse without any drivers i seemed to have get rid of the problem. So for anyone having issues like this with razer mouses i suggest uninstalling the drivers. I am going to mail razer about this issue. Thank you mangeface for giving me the link to that forum thread, it was very useful!
