The US Patrol boats:



I was excited to see these on baracuda , looked forward to being transport and fire-support for beaches and flags near the water line (and Apocalypse Now winning) . Unfortunately first impressions are that they suck for any possible roll. And my brother was so disappointed he wont play them now.

Low armour
Rubbish speed
Rubbish maneuverability
Not enough seats to transport (if that's its intended roll?)

Has anybody had any success with these? DEVs whats the intended roll?

When you see that boat coming its hatfest lol.

@Limeni: I hope PR:V can be put into the regular maplists, at least one of the maps. Yes PR:V needs work, but it's not far from a polished product, good work DEV's (Y)

Agreed on everything. Tried fighting some infantry on the coast on Operation Barracuda (they were on the rocks in A7 or something, the cave NW of the airstrip), and my boat got raped by small arms fire in a minute or two. I kept moving and I was like 75 meters off the coast, so not too close. Before our boat exploded, pretty much everyone except me (the driver) and 1 gunner survived, the rest dropped quite fast to LMG and AK fire. I couldn't tell exactly, but I wouldn't say there were more than 3 guys shooting at me, and at least 1 of them was an LMG. The speed needs to be buffed significantly to avoid this, and maybe increase the armor/hp on it so it doesn't die that fast to small arms, but maybe that won't be needed if the boat is faster.

Keeping the boat at a distance of 150 m or more might've helped, but if you're gonna use it to transport people it should at least be faster than it is now.

Barracuda isn't a good map for the PBR. If you want to fully take advantage of these PBR's you need to make a map with thick rivers and wet terrain.. Island assault isn't what the PBR is meant for.

It would be even worse... the boat is too slow and too weak, and you could get fired at very easily in a river.

It's noted and will be changed for "Beta 2".
