I notice that in every game or game trailer than deals with vietnam, the song fortunate son plays, is that because the troops listened to that song a lot or something?

It's probably the most well known protest song of the era.

Some folks are born made to wave the flag
Ooh, they're red, white and blue
And when the band plays "Hail to the Chief"
Oh, they point the cannon at you, Lord
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no Senator's son
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one, no
Some folks are born silver spoon in hand
Lord, don't they help themselves, oh
But when the tax men come to the door
Lord, the house look a like a rummage sale, yes
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no millionaire's son, no, no
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one, no
Yeah, some folks inherit star spangled eyes
Ooh, they send you down to war, Lord
And when you ask them, "How much should we give?"
Oh, they only answer, more, more, more, yoh
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no military son
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one, no, no, no
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate son, no, no
The song was written about the draft and the people who got out of it for various reasons. Its VERY apt for the Vietnam War.

Ironically, it was a song AGAINST the war.

all songs commonly associated with the vietnam era are against the war, in fact, can you give me the name of even one song of this timeframe that propagates war?
CCR's Fortunate Son was also featured in a helicopter scene in Forrest Gump.

Back in 2002/4 there was a Wrangler's commercial that portrayed the song as being very patriotic too. It was funny.

Funny how people assume anti-war songs unpatriotic.

AHh ok that scene is familiar. Ha I guess other forms of media (games) have tried to replicate forest gump's Nam interpretation.

media and nothing but media. almost everything you associate with something is a result of media procedures.

Forrest Gump, BF:V, BC2:V, Black Ops (Spit spit spit). Plenty of people have heard it, and it's quite clearly a blatant anti-war song
"Yeah, some folks inherit star spangled eyes
Ooh, they send you down to war, Lord
And when you ask them, "How much should we give?"
Oh, they only answer, more, more, more, yoh"
IE, Some people are brought up to be all patriotic and the Mighty USA yadah yadah, they are the ones who'll happily send soldiers into a fight, and just literally send them by the plane load until what they feel is right is done.
Oh, and it's a brilliant song

Here is a pro-Vietnam song written early in the war:

This song was popular during the Vietnam War and is included in several Vietnam films and video games. It is from the perspective of a man who is being drafted who is not "fortunate" enough to be the son of a Senator or millionaire.
I always thought it was a very clever way to put things.

I wish the huey had "Sympathy For The Devil." IMO it's a better Vietnam song than Paint It Black

I would like to know why paint it black was in there, other that the old TV show "Tour of Duty" it was the opening song. but other than that, idk. Also, I swear I've heard fortunate son in some other vietnam movie, possibly platoon, or FMJ

CCR was a popular band during the Vietnam war. Especially the 'Fortunate Son' song.
