The Flak 88, it would be a great addition to the Normandy family:

(this image shows the version used in FH2)

Post here if you're up for modelling it.

Isn't the Pak40 an AT gun and the Falk 88 an AA gun?

Flak 88 was anti-aircraft and anti-tank artillery ;) .

Deployable "TOW" is PAK40
Deployable AA is Flak38 [Flakvierling 38]

Note that the version used in Normandy should be yeloow, not grey.

^ Isn't yellow for desert? I know that in the north of Africa the nazis used yellow-painted AA, making it yellow for Normandy would make it easy to spot and this wasn't what they want, specially in the maps that can feature planes...

The yellow/green-ish color was the German summer camo back then, used it on most vehicles and stationary weapons.

Yes, but they improvised and noticed how it was far better in the AT role. It probably destroyed more tanks than airplanes.

It's one of the best close-up images out there and FH2 is always accurate ;) .

Flak means fliegerabwehrkannone, so, air defense gun. It was an AA... weird one at that, but nontheless, AA gun. :D

The Germans also made a Pak Version of it:

About the colours: They used Panzergrau (as in grey) at the beginning of the war. Starting in 1943 they started to produce all their vehicles and guns in yellow and applied custom camo paint jobs in brown and green. Towards the end of the war they started producing green vehicles.

I would love to see these babes being deployable, sad because it'll never happen...

A deployable Flak 88 is quite overpowered against a deployable M1, hence we went for the Pak 40 ;) .

Anyways, is anyone up for modelling this?

Don't wait on me, if someone else does it first go ahead, but I need some more modeling practice this summer so maybe ill give this a shot since ive got 3 or 4 days off this week from work :)

Still fairly new to modelling, especially for something such as a video game. Will 3ds max 2012 be alright or do I need a older version to model for BF2?

You need an older version, Max9 I believe. You 'could' do it in 2012, but then transferring it back to Max9 would just add a whole heap of extra work.

I'll look into downloading an older version, anyone know where u can get a free older version by chance? Legal if possible :P

Doing stuff in 2012 then going back to 9 isn't as hard as everyone makes it seem.
