Missing Heavy Assets

Like the title says, i am missing heavy assets like the M48 Patton, M551 and M41.
There should be some alternative layers on all maps for that.
Not every one like to be a footsoldier and for the teamwork more variety of assets would be nice (Combined Arms).

I dont say that there should be mutch of them but 1-2 Tanks and APC with high respawn times on both sides for a high value of life and careful playing.

Bye the way Falklands need also some APC?s!

I'm not sure if you know but the "assets" don't fall from the sky, people have to get the model, re-texture code them etc,etc....
Apart from that I would say, Just wait :-P , it will be worth it

The problem is also very much when basing maps on r/l battles/conflicts is taking into account what weapons where really used. The Battle of Ia Drang for example was a very much, an infantry battle with the support of helis and fixed wing aircraft, much like how we have it setup ingame. To my knowledge, no tanks etc where in this battle, and as such shoving in a bunch of tanks wouldn't be in line with how the real battle played out, nor would be good for gameplay without also giving the US something heavy to counter them...

And since you mentioned the Falklands too going OT, this has been brought up many, many times before and for the above reason, there wasn't really any APCs used during the Falklands War, they "yomped" (marched) all the way across the islands, because of the loss of their choppers when the AC was sunk and I'm aiming for the same thing ingame, with the exception of if the AC isn't sunk ingame you eventually get your choppers.

While historical accuracy may not be important to some, in order to get the correct portrayal of the conflict realistically, its important to stick with it.

Thats totaly true i can fully understand your point of view.

But sticking with the reality to hard may harm the gameplay. For me personal the feeling of reality is enought, total reality we will never achive. To try to get to reality is ok but should not achived for any price (like in ArmA).

I dont care if there is 1 APC from that area that was not used in this conflict/battle it dont will harm the feeling. Some tweaks are ok for me.

Its a balancing of Gameplay(Action/Tactic) and Realism. But to say we focus on infantry movement its fully ok and a cool gameplay aspect.
Also multiple realism games use WW2 tanks that never used in battle. (IS-2 etc.) But hey you dont say shit that f. tank never shots a bullet why its on this map. Because its f. cool. :)

A nother point:
To say we limit the FOB spawn ability and stay with the actual rally points. You will add a transport logistic gameplay, like beach boat landings, and so on (i often sad this on this forum).
What for now dont realy exists, because you place a FOB and then respawn all the time there.
When you limit the spawn ability, this will have this walking around effect on the big iland, wath even dont exists without the APC. It may be a liddl boring for someon, but not for me. Folks get you a team. :)
(This thing need to be realy good balanced out, so its fun for everyone. For solo, action, tactic and team players.)
For now its to mutch action 60% action to 40% tactic.

Also the fights will be more intens(more carefull slower gameplay) and retreats will appear more often. For now retreats dont realy exists.

But hey back to topic. :)

Developers, I want to ask if the siege of Khe Sahn can be a base for a map? Because of the way it went over there it should be really hard to make such a map.

As far as I'm aware', Vietnam was mainly an infantry war with aircraft/helicopter support. tanks battles were very rare.

Who says tank battles ? Inf vs tanks asymetric warfare. To balance this out: City / Jungle warfare.
You cant realy operate this assets in such kind of enviroment, even if they are "overpowerd".

Also:
US should have 50% less tickets then the other team, to get the "human recources" according to that time.
Similar to the Insurgent gameplay mode.

Don't worry, development of Vietnam is not stopped, maybe one day you will see F-4 Phantom and Patton hitting hard enemy. ;)

Anyway we need Hue battle. That was some pretty bloody and intense battle ever fought during the war.

For those that don't check the files before asking, these assets are done, but they don't have a proper map for them.

We'll probably see some MiGs and Phantoms over Vung Ro as well as tanks.

Just a note, the files don't say there is already the MiG and the Phantom, but they might be hidden on their repo.

The files in v0.98 are incomplete. Vietnam has received more love in v1.0. More about that later.

More vehicles, for both sides. This includes some heavy gear. And air assets of course. There will be new animations and new maps.

Can't tell more atm ;-) .

Well, on this 2 year old video you can see:

OH-6 Cayuse
M551 Sheridan
Cadillac Gage Commando
M48 Patton
M60

Also, AD - will all the vehicles get their appropriate weapon/viewport sights in 1.0?
