land mine tactics

Post by dead fish12345 »

well post ur favorite land mine tactics here

heres mine i call it panzer pitch
this works realy well if u have 2 or 3 guys first u find a tank then you get 2 guys to hide behind cover( need to be able to se the tank) the guy with the mine runs up wile the other 2 distract. the guy with he mine dives UNDER the tank and trows it down then he gets out and runs like a bat outa hell. me and my uncle do this all the time its a blast we killed 4 tanks in one round like this lol.

Throwing mines from the top of a building infront of a tank thats searching for you.

Placing mines on that curve on any bridge (the ones were you go down but can hardley see the floor).

Placing a mine behind/infront of a tanks/apc's wheel while its reloading/repairing/camping,

Placing random mines on the roads near my CP :D

Defensive Arms Tactics... earlier thread.. some ideas that you may enjoy (tossing mines off a building doesnt' really appeal to me, and personally i would like to see that sort of use prevented, as lets face it... v. unrealistic).

http://realitymod.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10036

Ok leaving them visible in the road is unrealistic too... as is suicide runs with mines.

Al jabal... take a vod to the first canyon on the way to W beach, park it sideways and mine the open side. reload go up the road and mine just past the first curve. leave or set C4 and wait for an alert engineer to try and remove them.
Usually good for 2-3 kills.
And as the windshield melts

Leaving only charcoal to defend.
Finally I understand the feelings of the few.

I always like to put a mine right smack in the middle of the road... a real obvious one that everyone sees from a mile away. THen I run up the road towards where the enemy will be comeing from, and I place 2 mines in bushes on either side of the road... hehe... THey see the obvious one in teh middle of the road, and think that they can just swerve around it.. as soon as they go off the road BOOM... works great for fast movers because they think they can go around without even slowing down. :)

Shallow water, ramps, slopes, holes in a road, grass, BOOM!
I really do enjoy a good tank hunt 8)

I've never really taken advantage of the eng or his mines really, but this is inspiring me. My favorite was on abadan to rush to the bridge, put mines on the slope, then C-4 at the entrance (where the fence is) and then anti personal mines around the fence (im talking pre .4) and watch two humvees haul over the bridge to get blown up then an APC or another humvee to run towards my C-4 for an easy kill ;)

Revived this thread!

I don't think anyone really takes advantage of mines too often. The fact that you can place up to 8 mines and that they stay there for 10 minutes after you die there has to be some great tactics out there being used!

I personally don't use mines that often myself since I rather tank out vehicles head on (HAT kit). My mission for this thread is for someone to post mine tactics that are so great that I start playing eng more!

Block the roads you KNOW the enemy will come through, not your own bases road.

(Ever tried throwing the mines on top of vehicles, it makes the mines seem really really heavy. E.g. On a HMWWV, the suspension will bounce up and down.)

I was trying to remove mines with the engineer kit and I didn't think it was doing anything, is it possible to remove them once they are placed if you pick up a US engineer kit? or do you have to spawn engineer? I was playing insurgent..

depends on how many mines you have, place a decoy in an obvious location, the driver (if smart*) will avoid the mine swirve in the other lane, but the hidden mine kills them.

you need to move around for some weird reason when disarming them to like line up right or something?

I don't know I just don't use mines that much. FF incident is inevitable and getting enough points to bring your points out of the red zone isn't rapid enough as an engineer.

The black mine, too, is painfully obvious to everyone (except your teamates for some reason). While nice as a diversion method it's not great when you really want to hide those mines for a kill.

I think my favorite is still the old mine on the bridge routine . If someone is dumb enough to hit them they take out the bridge too.

Still, not enough in the bag of tricks for me to stay with the kit much anymore.

I forgot something I just discovered. I only have done it once but it has some potential if you are patient.

I will use my bridge exercise as an example:

Set mine on bridge. Set remote explosive inside mine. Seek cover. Hold until vehicle arrives and notices said BLACK mine. Observe engineer or crewman as he investigates bridge. Wait til you see his expression as he removes mine and finds hidden present. Press remote button. If you are lucky you still take out the part of the bridge with the vehicle over it.

If you could litter the map with mines or you could build something with the engineer or maybe he could have different types of mines that would make him interesting imo. Something. Right now meh :/

Last night I got a score of 16-0 k/d playing as PLA commander on 64 Ghost Train - I kept mining vehicles in the Brit base and c4ing the heli... because you can resupply mines off enemy vehicles, you can just keep going... I had two squads running around looking for me at one point - so I succeeded in killing enemy and tying up troops and assets.

It works fine, just not on all the missions... also you want to place the mines so they are not too obvious - in front of the rear wheels, in little grass tufts where they are likely to drive, in shadows, etc...

missions where there are a lot of vehicles likely to be unguarded - greasy mullet for i.e. is ideal... it is always so funny when they jump straight into the vehicles, take off and BOOM... heh heh

sweet

:-)
