Battlefield 2 1.41 patch update problem

I am trying to patch my BF2 CD copy in order to play PR, but the game ignores all patches added to it. I have both the Deluxe version of BF2 with the Special Forces addon on CD, and a different standard copy of BF2 also on CD. Both of these install normally, but when I trying to install the patch it stays at 1.1.2, despite the 1.41 patch saying it's installed successfully. I am running Windows 7.

Already tried:

- Installing BF2 in safe mode.
- Trying to do it with both the Deluxe and standard CD versions.
- Installing everything in admin mode.
- Making sure the patch and game are running in Windows 7 compatibility mode.
- Downloading the 1.4/1.41 patch from different sources.
- Restarting after each installation and patch.
- Making sure the games are running before I install the patch.
- Starting with the very first available patch instead of 1.41.

It won't update. Any ideas?

Are you running the 1.41 patch .exe as an admin?

1. go here:

2. download the correct version of the patch, i.e. if you have 32bit or 64bit windows.
3. extract the .zip file
4. Right Click the .reg file and EDIT in Notepad
5. Switch the "Version"="1.5" to "Version"="1.41"
6. Save the file, exit notepad
7. Right click the file, run as admin, click yes at UAC.
8. download and run the 1.5 patch.
