Hamachi and Local Servers

Hey all,
Sorry for all these issues! I have a friend who is hosting a local server on Hamachi for some fun and tests. I have another friend who joined his Hamachi server and he could connect to the Hamachi server hosted but I apparently can't. I am not sure if it is an issue with the Hamachi server or PR or my connection. I have allowed Hamachi in my firewall for public but not private access.
Thank you,

Hiya,

First off, Can you join your friend's Hamachi network successfully?

1. Antivirus,
2. Windows Firewall
3. Third party firewall, like ZoneAlarm or Comodo
4. Router
5. Hamachi options and virtual network interface card (NIC)
6. Have you created a vanilla BF2 ONLINE account, and logged in to PR with that account?

The above is a list of all your possible problems, have to troubleshoot them one at a time,

1) Setup hamachi as described in the introduction to hamachi thread in below quote

2) Start up the hamachi client

3) Right click on the person who is host, and choose copy address.

4) Start up bf2

5) If you don't already have one, you will need to make an account for bf2 (this is ingame btw), it's free. You will need an ONLINE account.

6) Choose Multiplayer

7) Choose Join Local

8: Click the Connect to IP button

9) Enter hamachi address of the host.

10) If you know the server is on a non-default port, change it in the box. If not, just click join game!

And there you go! Have Fun!
AN INTRODUCTION TO HAMACHI (Extra detail added by andman!)

Hamachi is a small program that sets up a P2P (Peer to Peer) based LAN Network. What this allows is LAN gaming over the internet! As well as sharing folders and files, remote access and of course chatting.

It is very easy and simple to use and set up.

Firstly, download it here -> https://secure.logmein.com/products/ham ... sp?lang=en

Its so easy to set-up that it does it most of it for you after the installation.

How it works, and help with setting it up: https://secure.logmein.com/products/ham ... tworks.asp

Once you have it installed and set up you will need to join the network your fellow NTers use, here are the details, but first this:

Accounts are free with hamachi. You can pay for a premium account which gives you upgraded features (of course). There are a number of limitations though, you can only belong to 64 networks with a free account (256 with a premium one) and only 16 free users can be a part of a network at any one time (256 premium accounts however), so we're gonna have to work out a way to get round this problem. Anyway, the details for joining us:

Click on the 'Create or Join Networks' button in the bottom right of the Hamachi interface. You will then need to enter the network name and password, which is as follows:

Thats it! You can now play LAN games with us.

Yes I can connect to my friend's hamachi server successfully. I also have an actual BF2 account etc so it should have any problem with that.

1. I have eset nod32, but I have know it will inform me if it blocks something, and it has not blocked the hamachi connection.
2. I have recently added hamachi as an app allowed to pass through the public networks (my current wifi connection is listed as a public because it is not my home) but it should be allowed already.
3. I do not own a third party firewall
4. I do not have access to the router settings here but I assume that there is no restriction for peer to peer connection
5. May you please elaborate on this point?
6. I own a valid copy of BF2 and have PR downloaded and can play online but not local (from join IP)

I am not an expert, heck I'm just barely competent on using these virtual LAN programs.

Check out this tutorial, especially from step 24 through step 26,
How to get games work with Hamachi on Windows 7 | Wiretuts

It's possible on the public network they have blocked NAT-Routing and/or port-forwarding ... which will be a gamestopper afaik.

Sry for necro but just wanna ask. The "join IP" in local doesn't seem to do anything when clicked. No window pops up where you can type in the IP.

Is there any other way to manually connect to hamachi IP like a console command? If so please type the command.

Thx.

Same here, but "join IP" doesn't work only on offline account
