i try to update to 1.036, but all i get is '1212: Error validating downloaded file. File is corrupt' HELP PLEASE!!

What OS do you have?

For win7 and win8, go to
C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\Project Reality\Project Reality BF2\Downloads
If you see any files that are not .prpatch files, delete them.
Keep the directory window open, we'll need it again.

Start PRLauncher again and try to update.

If the error 1212 occurs again,
go back to the directory, and delete everything.

Start PRLauncher again and try to update.

Let us know if this fixes it.

I'm getting the same error. Have BF2 on 2 systems here and PR will only work on one. followed what you said above & the download folder is empty at all times. Have reinstalled BF & redownloaded the updates to 1.5 . Have reinstalled PR several times and get the same result. Have now reinstalled Desura and downloading PR again. Will post results of latest attempt.

Update: It works but not via a method that'll be much use to anyone else. All I did was copy the entire PR folder from one system to the other. I'm assuming the fault lies within the update system, ours was updateing from 1.0.29.0 to 1.0.30.0 .

I go to the 'C/' drive > Users > (USERNAME), but after that i dont get 'app data' as an option after that

Try typing %APPDATA% in the bar and hit enter.

I found the folder, but its empty :/

so basically it didn't work

I don't have a copy of winXP installed, I have to ask the Devs where the updates are stored in WinXP.

Also, the PR update server is somewhat broken today, have to get the lead Dev's attention so he can look at it, but he's in the last stages of a undergrad senior year Uni project,...

i dont have windows XP, i have windows 7. I did eventually find the folder, but there was nothing in it. however i did find out my version of bf2 is 1.5.3153-802.0. does this mean i have to downgrade it? if so, how? sorry, im not very competent when it comes to installing mods

I manually added the PRUpdater and PRlauncher to the allowed prog. list and it seems to work now.

I am facing this issue with a fresh install.

The folder you mentioned is also empty for me.

Any method to update manually?

Had this error for the last 3 days. If I knew which files were updated, I could ask a friend to send them to me. Any chance of knowing, devs?

I'm not a Dev, I could be wrong here,

I believe it is this:
IT is the update that is corrupt, before the update gets applied to local files.
If you open PRLauncher->Support
Then in the white box with your system specs, scroll down to
Disk Information
Update DL Path
It will show you where on your PC the uploads are stored,
The default location for Vista/7/8 is:

Update DL Path: C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\Project Reality\Project Reality BF2\Downloads
Free: XX.xx GB, Total: XX.xx GB, NTFS
Update Log Path: C:\Users\USERNAME]\AppData\Local\Project Reality\Project Reality BF2\UpdateLogs
Free: XX.xx GB, Total: XX.xx GB, NTFS

First, go to the Update Download Path, and see which is your most recently downloaded patches.
Then, go to the Update Log Path and open the corresponding log files.

In the log files will be a list of patched files, you're looking for anything out of the ordinary (THIS IS WHERE I CANNOT BE SPECIFIC, I don't know what a failed update looks like)

I do know if you see any problems with any files with the file extension of .patchold in your BF2\PR installation directory, than you should delete those. DO a windows search on the BF2 installation directory and all subdirectories for" *.patchold " without the quotes, that should find them all.

I dont have any updates, this is literally my first time installing PR

Thanks for trying to help, [R-COM]LITOralis.nMd. In the Appdata/local/Project Reality, I only have the "downloads" folder, no folder for logs. Also, no .patchold files in the main installation directory.

LoftyB, try this:
PRlauncher->Options->Global->Check the "Keep Update Files" tickbox, ->Click Apply
try to download the update again.
then go look in the two directories again.
