I can't tell if this is my problem or the forum's

A couple of people have reported an issue about not being able to watch embedded videos recently but most people including myself don't have any issues. Try a different browser maybe?

It's probably one of your browser addons messing up. Disconnect? Always https?
Disable all your addons, then enable them one by one.

Do you think Java would have anything to do with it?

Disable java if you never use it, too many vulnerabilities anyway .
I have no idea if that has anything to do with it. But disable all your addons, then check if it works for you. If it does, it's one of your addons causing the error - or a combination of addons of course.

I've noticed the issue of one of codes used in the forums for vids does not work in tapatalk.

Is the video just 'white', and it says video not loaded?

I had that too, and it turned out to be one of my chrome extensions that caused it.
