[RECORDING] For everyone with Nvidia gpu -> ShadowPlay

Hi all,

For everyone who's having a Nvidia videocard, Nvidia has a nice gamerecord option called Shadowplay. However, your kind of videocard has to be supported in order to be able to use it. In my case, a Y510P Lenovo laptop, it's not supported which is very unfortunate. I found a workaround. You need GeForce Experience program for this to work!

Requirements
- Nvidia Videocard (though I'm not sure if it works with other cards, you could try!)
- Nvidia GeForce Experience program

What to do

- Create a new Nvidia GeForce Experience shortcut on your desktop
- Right click > properties
- Add -shadowplay to target. You should have something similar to this:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\NVIDIA GeForce Experience\GFExperience.exe" -shadowplay

Enjoy high quality recording, easy use and not so very big files :)

It only works with Nvidia cards above the 600 series. I've been using it for the last half year or so now I believe, and it is defiantly going to be superior to most other recording software once they fix the bugs and add more audio features (similar to DxTory).

If it doesn't allow you to film in PR (or any other games), you have to alt-tab out and quickly turn it off and on. That has always fixed it for me

I am using ShadowPlay since release aswell.

Keep in mind: if you alt+tab and go back ingame, there is a chance of your ingame sound not being recorded. So everytime you want to alt+tab back in game again, quickly turn shadowplay off and on again. Then you are good to go. I read something in the latest changelog that they tried to fix this by making alt+tab stop the recording temporarily so it does not get bugged, but I cant tell if it works now since I got used to the on-off routine everytime and still do it.

I am using Shadowplay to record gameplay and create my series on squad leaders. Lead to Victory! Ep. 3 RATTSPLAT - YouTube

I have had no issues with Shadowplay except for some very short lapses in sound recording. I am not sure if it is due to shadowplay or my rig. I do not have a high-end sound card. I do have a fast cpu and a gtx770. Shadowplay has proven to be an equalizer for gameplay recording because you do not have to have a massive rig with a huge hard disk. I have a 1 TB hard disk and have recorded hours of gameplay already with plenty of space to go.

I've had some problems with "corrupted" movie files. The sound worked, but the screen was all glitchy with purple, white, black stripes.

Also it seemed to crash PR time from time. I changed some settings (can't remember what) and it stopped from crashing.

All in all, a VERY good thing to have. You can't miss anything epic and you don't have to record whole rounds.

Please forgive the necromancy..

Any of you guys still using geforce experience to record PR?
I been trying to get it to work for a while now but issues still.. I made a topic trying to figure it out even..

Perhaps someone who is currently using it can explain how you managed to get it working with Project Reality?

any advice would be much appreciated!

Uh it seems I have finally gotten it working.. I had to change a bunch of PC settings on the laptop, got some help from the posts here and from a friend who knows computers better than me lol..

Sorry for the trouble with this old thread.

But some of the posts here were very useful to get this shit working so hopefully anyone else who is having issues with this will find this! :D
