So, I've been trying to play PR with a friend (online), being in the same room (his laptop connected by cable to my router).
But we've been experiencing crashes and disconnects from servers way too often (like, every 5 minutes) when playing together, which doesn't normally happen when I'm playing by myself. On one ocasion, I lost connection to the server just as he connected.
I just wanna know if there might be a way to "solve" this, or if there's nothing I can do.

Re: Issues playing online with friend on local network
You might need to run the BF2 dedicated server launcher in the background running at PR settings. Then proceed to connect to it yourself as well as your friend.
This may require 3 PCs depending on how backwards the server launcher is.

They're not trying to run a local server, they're trying to connect to internet servers with 2 PCs on one network.
Does your router support UPnP and does it have NAT enabled (or IPv6)?
