Security effect internet speed?

Post by matty1053 »

Hi,
I am asking if the security on my gateway effects the internet speed. It's currently at WPA2 Enterprise... If I change it to normal WPA or such... not "Max protective" will it make ANY difference? I turned my firewall off to see if it helped... and nope! :(

Thank you, all help is appreciated.

I will contact Comprice, I mean Comcast support if needed! But no way they will come out to my house for $70-$100 for 'fixing' the issue.

Again, thanks.

Thank you, Sorry I am not a smarty at internet stuff! :P

BTW, Do you know if bridging your modem helps internet speed? I have another router I am gonna use if bridging my gateway now will make the speed fast on the router I own.
(It's a Linksys Ea4500) I am supposed to be receiving 105mbps DL, 20mbps up.
The router is capable of 400mbps-450mbps apparently.

Hate to ask that.

Find a way to use an ethernet cable to your pc, you'll be much happier for it.

Oh belive me. If I would I could. :) Wouldn't mind having 120mbps+ on my pc. Just need a drill that I can drill thru cinder block, concrete and a I beam. Lol.

Are power plugs an option? I use it at home, works perfect here.

I'm probably going to buy new ones.... since the ones I have now are slow. (85mbps.... well... only if you have NOTHING going on that circuit.) Any recommedation of a brand? I was thinking of getting some 500mbps one. Since the ones I have now ONLY go to like 600-685kbps on my PC (which isn't far away from my router lmao). As well as my speed via ethernet NOW if I test on laptop... 125.9mbps. I know I won't get NEAR that with the power adapters.

I had my ISP switch out my gateway today, since the Wifi was acting up. But I was also considering of getting a new USB wifi adapter. I'll see new powerline adapters.... they aren't that much money. Just, I want to know how much speed I'll get with them.
