I have an Acer Aspire 7720G Laptop. This thing weighs a ton, and it's screen is pretty big for a laptop.
Specs:
-Intel Core 2 Duo processor T7300 2.0ghz, 800MHz FSB, 4 MB L2 cache
-Nvidia Geforce 8400M GS 1 GB mobile graphics card, max resolution of 1440 x 900
-2GB DDR2
-Windows 7 64-Bit
I have Battlefield 2 installed, it's working no problem on medium, but I haven't tried it on High.
Edit: Tested on High. It's okay, there's some hickups.
Things I might need to upgrade are the memory to 4 GB (I can use readyboost with a usb to increase performance), and a new CPU, which means buying a new laptop.
What I am using it is for modding PR as my current computer always gets occupied, so I'm going to use the BF2 Editor. I'll try on PR.
Update: PR runs decently on local with Low settings. I'm considering now just selling this laptop and buying another one.
I posted in the wrong section. Can anyone please move this thread in the General Technical Support section? Will be greatly appreciated.

Well I'm running PR on a very similar machine. Got 2 cores 2.4 GHz cpu, 2 gigs of ram, and gt 220 1gb gpu. PR runs on high buy loafing times take forever so I'm playing on medium. Try setting as much page file (I believe it is called so in english) as you can. It helped me a lot.
Yea... right...

Loading time is pretty much entirely on your hard drive. With the specs you listed, I woludn't be surprised if it was a 5400rpm mechanical hard drive. Believe it or not, you will load in really fast if you tossed in an SSD to your system.boberczus wrote:Well I'm running PR on a very similar machine. The rest of the system looks ok. Should be able to play it assuming it doesn't have problems with heat.

I use the Ready boost with a 16gb USB. I notice a difference in games. IF you do so, just don't remove the USB, you have to 'deactivate' it from being a ready boost USB. If you do not, and remove it without doing so, you will crash your PC.Arab wrote: Things I might need to upgrade are the memory to 4 GB (I can use readyboost with a usb to increase performance), and a new CPU, which means buying a new laptop.

And the BF2 editor will probably take a while to load on your system. I don't know how much PC's are in Australia, (I know the US is cheaper then all countries pretty much). but you could get your self a fairly inexpensive one that can do some good.

Thanks for the suggestion. I just ordered a Crucial MX-500 512 GB for around $200, which is Synchronous, meaning it doesn't slow down significantly when it's half-full (1-9% compared to 50-60% asynchronous) unlike the Asynchronous SSD's which manufacturers never reveal (But other sites state). The game loads, just the loading times is slow and the game runs slightly sluggish. Hopefully it will be blazing fastTequila wrote:Loading time is pretty much entirely on your hard drive. Bf2 Editor loads fine, though not as quick as my iMac. I like things nice and fast.matty1053 wrote:I use the Ready boost with a 16gb USB. I notice a difference in games. I'm also getting 4 GB of Ram, and then if it's good, I'll keep the laptop. I'm planning on selling it later so I can upgrade to a ASUS ROG G751JT-DH72 17.3-Inch Laptop as the touchpad can play up on different surfaces like the couch. Updating the touchpad fixes it. Going to be awesome.
