Battle of Britain
Whilst there are no british playermodels nor are there Spitfire or Hurricane or other British plane or german bomber models, I think it would be interesting to see a scaled down battle of Britain using the same techniques that are used with the Falklands map.
Perhaps there could be airborne flags at the different parts of the channel or there could be coastal defences that bombers have to destroy. Would certainly be cool to see a huge map with the planes that we currently have, they would take a while to traverse the map. Thoughts?

Re: Battle of Britain
FYI: There are two Spitfires, two German planes, a large German bomber and large British bomber plane thing available in the community. All made (or optimized/finished) by Clivewil.

Re: Battle of Britain
Like AD stated there are the goods, now the only thing missing is someone to step forward with that concept. We're quite short handed in mapping so some of these conflicts that players have been wishing for won't be possible without community mappers stepping forward.

Re: Battle of Britain
Air asset only map of a scaled down low detail map of the English channel akin to the Flaklands one? German mission to bomb some objectives that cost tickets on the British coast and Brit mission to protect the objectives and shoot down German planes until their tickets run out? This could definitely work imho, would need a healthy dose of teamwork to achieve anything, fighter, bomber squadrons etc. 32v32 would be plenty of action for fighters and light bombers, 50v50 could work with He111's and more people per plane. The required planes are already there, only lack a map and probably some proper coding support for the planes, bombers with gunners.

Re: Battle of Britain
Side notes:
1)Spitfire MkV --> MkVB (not trop)
2)Spitfire MkIX --> MkIXC (because 4x Hispano Mk.II (IIRC))
3)Lancaster looks like Mk I or Mk III.
4)Bf109 --> Bf109E-3
5)He-111 --> He-111H-3 ; Ju-87 --> Ju-87B-2
6)I wonder how you will balance it. Because even SpitVB wrecked 109E so easily... Not even speaking about SpitIXC. Just because 109E was made in the end of 1938, and SpitVB - in August of 1941. Not even speaking of SpitIXC.

Re: Battle of Britain
As the old PR saying goes Gameplay > Balance > Realism. I'm aware of the things you've listed, the devs could just disable the hispano cannons. Make the Me's and Spits have same stats or give some specific buffs, like making the Spit more agile but less powerful and vice versa for the Me. Just suggesting to use what there is to their advantage, ignoring these little historical details for the sake of having a unique air game mode for everyone. The planes could be fixed up with time if really needed, but atm they would work fine with some tweaks for a Battle of Britain scenario.

Re: Battle of Britain
That He111 and Me109 looks most realistic airplane models. Totaly same,great texture but it needs map.This comunnity still is strong and has a lot of custom modelers. Now it needs one community mapper...

this would be good one, ONLY IF WE GET MUCH MORE REALISTIC FLYING MODEL/PHYSICS....

Relax, its an old game engine, what do you expect? As for the concept, further down the line we can take a good look into it, I think itd be alot of fun. If you really want it, learn some mappingTomppelix wrote:this would be good one, ONLY IF WE GET MUCH MORE REALISTIC FLYING MODEL/PHYSICS....
