Set headphones to stop lines and only use USB?

Post by Rabbit »

My headphones are currently being used via USB, however I have has lines that can be used. The problem is that the lines are not being used and unplugged so my headphones use the USB, but the lines are still active, and causing an annoying humming. Is there anyway to fix this?

Weird. From the manual:

Please Note: USB Audio is not enabled in PC mode, use analog plugs for Mic and Game Audio Operation. Chat and Game Audio are mixed together in PC.

...which doesn't seem to make any sense, as others clearly discuss using these via USB-only on PC, and Klipsch includes a USB adapter specifically for this purpose. Are you using the included adapter, or just plugging straight into your PC/hub?

That extra plug is to make the USB power only (no idea why)

Are you sure? It could also have a ferrite core to prevent EM interference? It could have a DSP?

What Grey posted from the Klipsch website makes absolutely no farking sense. Has to be some mangled German to English translation.

Found this in a Newegg review:

In order to use this product correctly in a PC, you must connect the audio and mic jack into the computer, then locate a separate USB power converter (the kind that your phone typically comes with) and connect the headset's USB jack to that. That needs to be plugged into a wall outlet separate from your computer. Once this is done, the headset works marvelously, with no static sound (which is what many others here have experienced).

These headphones seem needlessly complex.

Nothing wrong with that - you do the same with your phone or any other device that charges via USB. The implication here is that these are not "USB headphones" - the analog audio cables must be used, while the USB provides power only.

It's still cool though, these are actual powered drivers in his headphones, something that was experimented with in the 1960's and again in the 1980's HiFi craze but fell out of favor once the Sony Walkman arrived.

Yup, just like all wireless headsets. Which makes this such an oddball.

(I am an audio engineer, btw)
