Mumble Volume.

Post by Zward01 »

The other people can hear me, but when they have mics, and they talk, I can not hear them. I have tried reinstalling the game, but it didnt help. Is there some sort of way I can see if the volume is down? They aren't muted or anything.

hello,

When in game, alt tab and you'll find mumble in your system tray (down by the clock) as a hidden icon click on the little triangle to reveal, once in it check output device and stick up volume.

Out of game mumble can be launched from the launcher,

I don't want to make a new thread... so

How can I mute everything except for local speech in mumble?

It's very annoying with all the squad leaders spamming like crazy *to all squads, to all squads* (why do they have to say it? They are spamming everyone... so what's up with the announcement?). Also there is always a chatty guy in the squad, so the same goes to being a squad member. You may say, that I should tell them not to talk too much... hey, I tried. Being nice, explaining, being rude, kicking, explaining even more... you name it. It does not work. Simply, people do not like being told to shut up.
So far my best solution is just muting mumble completely in the middle of the fight, I got a handy key shortcut... But it's not what I want. I need to be able to hear local guys around me.

PS. And I'm playing PR since 0.2... so don't start flaming me for not being a good SL/SM. I'm very cooperative, teamwork oriented and stuff... I wouldn't ask this, but I talked to some PR vets, they also feel the same. I really enjoy local, at least it gives you a good feeling where the friendlies are, and what they're doing.

I know there are some clever youngsters playing this game... did you know how to do this?

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing: Is there any way to configure a shortcut to mute specific communication channels, e.g. squad-leader chat or squad chat? Sometimes you just have to concentrate on the situation at hand and disregard any external inputs.

Not possible atm and not likely to implemented any time soon. Other things have way higher priorities.

But yeah personally I'd find it a handy thing as well. Just like in R/L you sometimes wanna mute that radio to focus :p

Yeah like... In real life, SL would just turn off the radio when enemy is 5m from him...
I managed to do this a while ago by using a karaoke plugin that removes vocal (mono sound) from the song. Tte bad thing was, you could not hear things right infront or behind you...
Also, I remember having two mumble accounts, and a mixer to regulate radio and local speech. Now these days it's not possible... But I'm pretty sure I'm not the smartest guy playing PR, someone must have found the solution by now.

Come on, share it with the rest, will ya?
