make sure your PC is plugged into HDMI

restart if you can, just to be safe

run launcher>profiles>reset all profiles on the bottom left corner. this will reset all your graphics settings

try to run the game with default settings

something other to try:

go to root PR directory, run "prbf2.exe"

does it crash too?

what kind of monitor is this? pc monitor? HDTV?

sounds like bad drivers to me then.. i would suggest using guru 3d driver cleaner and remove your current display and do a fresh install then if that is something you can do. it could be a directx problem which you can try to reinstall too.

does this happen with other games?

Create a new PR login for your HDMI monitor.

The BF2 engine is not that smart, it can not auto choose the correwct monitor when you unplug then plug in a new monitor of a different type.

If you have one login for each monitor you wil lbe fine.

Otherwise your option is to manually change the Video.con file in your Profiles directory to the correct resolution and refresh rate each time you want to swap displays.

It doesnt happen with any other games.

I use the same screen, but because my HMDI isn't working I use VGA

How do I get to the Video.con file and what do I need to change it to?

Try to set resolution to 720p in PR launcher and see if it works, and dont run in windowed mode. Then try the 1080p assuming your TV supports it and not only 1080i.

Do you have all the files as shown on the links?

Whatever, almost zero difference today. There are in some cases uncommon specs on the both. Refresh rates of 30Hz which can cause problems. But I dont think that is your problem. Check if you have all the files first, then we will check the content of some of them.

I dont have the BattleCommoDefaultUserSettings.con file

But I do have the rest

Ohhh, and my screen has a refresh rate of 60 Hz

I changed the resolution and it doesnt work.
I've noticed though that if I go on VGA, I miss about 20 pixels, so my screen only gets 1900x1080 instead of the 1920x1080

What is the make and the model of your display? We might need to go trough its manual. It seems like its not supporting FHD on VGA port or it may be faulty. Also check the cables.

Do you have another monitor or TV perhaps to test? If so please try that and see if it worked for you. Do what Litoralis said in his post.

Also

Asus Monitor VK278

there seems to be a problem for some people with that monitor using HDMI output. If this is the case I would suggest to use Dual Link DVI port and cable. Both, the GT440 and monitor should have it. If you dont have a cable borrow to test, or buy it shouldnt be expensive. Better than VGA.

No I don't have a spare monitor. I do have a TV, but my card can't run it. Its simply just a too big of a resolution. Even if it would theoretically work, I cant test it.
