hello all. i have a laptop with the amd 5750m apu meaning a quad core processor and a intergrated gpu with 1.5 gb vram. the computer also has 8 gb of ram as well as a 64 bit version of Windows 10. in any case, i first started playing yesterday and kept to the default settings which were a mix of medium and low. this surprised me given my specs were well above the minimum. the real issue is in game, fps drops are terrible and the game just doesnt look good. anyone have any suggestions on how to remedy this? it just plays like im running it on a pc from 2003...
I have set all graphical settings to low but now the game quits by itself after a couple seconds on the menu screen

You're not going to be able to run it smoothly on that laptop. Since it's a Refractor 2, an old game engine from 2002, it's not familiar with the idea of a multi-core threading. Game relies mostly on one single core and due to lack of single core performance you're experiencing FPS drops and etc.
You need to have at least 3.4 Ghz CPU, to run PR in a manner which is not going to hurt your feelings in a terrible way.

ah ok thats a shame. thanks for the response.right my pc is 2.5ghz per core so its not quite cutting it for single core performance.. is there anything i can do to alleviate the pain or is that about it?

I think we already talked to each other ingame. Try lowering your view distance. But other than that there isn't really much you can do. PR want's a single strong core, everything else basically doesn't matter.

Battlefield 2 only runs on one CPU-core.

Well every PC is a different story, just like persons. Depends how well you operate it and in what shape it is. Money invested does not guarantee that you will have top performance and that is very true for older games especially.
So 2005 game runs poor on your 2015+ 2000 bucks/euro/w/e PC, dont blame the game too much, take the part of the blame on you.
If I say that I run on 3Ghz dual core 2007 mid range gaming PC on almost high with 60fps would that sound strange?

Erhm. I think 2.5 Ghz it's a "Processor Base Frequency", but in a turbo mode it will boost up to 3.6 GHz.

But your "smooth" may not be someone else's idea of "smooth. It's relative of course.
I know some people that are happy with 25 fps. I know others that can't tolerate dipping below 60 fps.
Then there are some people trying to figure out how to run the game maxed on their 120 hz or 144 hz monitors.
