I'd like to get a budget comp mainly for PR but haven't kept up with hardware for about 10 years now and feel pretty much lost. Could anyone tell me how this would run PR and whether its worth the $650 pricetag?
Intel Core i5-4460
NVIDIA? GeForce? GT 740
PC3-12800 DDR3 8GB (4GBx2)
500GB HDD (SATAIII/ 6Gbps)
ASUS H97-PLUS (ATX)
How would this run PR?

Re: How would this run PR?
I believe it'll run PR fine as the CPU is a quad core 3.4, the video card is a basic but newer range and I think it'll run PR on full.
I used to play on an old gaming laptop on 1920X1080 with a older portable card a 740 just leaves it for dead.
GeForce GT 740 vs 9600M GT
I'm not sure but I know PR is more CPU bound that graphics card, however if you could find your way to stretch to a GTX750/750Ti/950 you would certainly be able to run on full and other modern games would run at decent FPS too.
$100 SSD really reduces load time and PC start time.
$650 seems ok but in Europe you can get steam machine type gaming PC's for that.

no mention of mobo type though.

Thanks for the advice. I only wish there was newegg in Japan. Those combo sets are a great idea. Maybe I'll just order the same parts from a Japanese retailer and put em together.

G-Tune ?|?n?C?G???h ?Q?[??PC?E?Q?[?~???O?p?\?R??????
Looks cool even if I understand next to nothing - check in here before buying I screwed up with an Amps insufficient PSU and had to buy a second one.
I just built myself a gaming PC quite cheap 2nd hand i5 2500k & mobo, new GTX970 with the aim of being able to play squad.
this one is $650 and its a lot better.

How does squad run on your new comp? I'm thinking of dishing out more so I can play squad on med or high settings.

I haven't checked FPS because it gives me no reason to (scared to) - I'm on Ultra everything.
Old Asus P8Z68 motherboard (Z denotes overclockable - new 75's still around) I5 2500k (stock 3.3 with a decent air cooler happy upto 4.5Ghz) GB RAM, Asus Strix GTX970 plus 240GB Samsung SSD.
Needed a 'special' one feed/rail 500W PSU giving +30Amps of 12V for the 970. not expensive but I didn't know before.
I used an old case I had to chop up to get the 970 in as I don't care about things like that right now, shitty $10 keyboard (still works fine when pressing a few keys at the same time) M6980 Gigabyte mouse cheap but after expensive G9's failing I gave up on expensive mice.

What do you think of this? Its about $780.
i5-6400
8GB?1 (DDR3L SDRAM PC3-12800)
HDD2 500GB 7200rpm (6Gbps)
NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) GTX950 / 2GB
Intel H110 Express ( MINI ITX )
MINI-ITX case
Would the small case or motherboard be a problem?

Re: How would this run PR?
No its a dual core so PR would be OK, but afaik you need a 4core for modern games these days with all the background stuff running plus gaming, graphics card is OK but you need a 4 core running @ least like a 6500 to get decent FPS.
A friend has an old i5 3470 at 3.4/3.8 plus a GTX660Ti and squad is running very well with him.
GeForce GTX 950 vs 660 Ti
What screen resolution you at?
I need to upgrade the CPU
6400 is 2.7/3.3boost +6900
6500 is 3.2/3.6 for 7900 yen so 20% more speed for 1000
6600 is 3.3/3.9 for 9900 yen
I would certainly upgrade to the 6500 not so sure about the 6600 but it is 10% faster on boost and I am under the impression that Squad like PR is more CPU dependant than GPU.
SSD's are nice I know in arma they changed a lot, in PR I load always first or second with but don't know how they affect squad.
IMHO small case downsides is upgradability meaning maybe no space for a sound card, wifi card, USB 3.0 or a big full size GPU, and secondly heat/ventilation but it isn't that hot in Tokyo and the case looks OK to me.
No DVD? You OK without that?
Is that W10 retail or OEM?
I've taken the liberty of posting on Squad forums as I don't have confidence in myself - be ready for the nah gotta be a GTX980 or nothing responses....

Re: How would this run PR?
I'm thinking I'll get a better CPU like you suggested and add an SDD drive. Thanks for posting on the Squad forum. Does PR have any problems with Win 10?

Re: How would this run PR?
Not for me. Quite a few have here but follow the installation guide and make sure system and game res matches and you should be cool, on my newbuild w10 I need DirectX, but I think most games come with that so if you install other games first and PR later it's fine.
I have win10, PR and squad on my 232GB (evo 240 lol) SSD as off today I am at 79GB.
I think that'll be OK for squad as I said earlier that GPU matches the 660Ti and that CPU speed matches his 3790k (which he is pretty sure isn't overclocked).
