Mumble: cant bind mouse button 4 and 5

Hello,

when I was last playing PR (2-3 weeks ago I guess), I had no problem using mumble with local and squad chat binded to buttons 4 and 5 respectively. When I started it yesterday, it didn't work anymore.

Now if I try to bind these buttons in the settings of mumble, instead of M:Mouse Button 4 it shows only M: and does ingame it does nothing. Mumble still recognizes the mouse's left and right click and wheelclick.

I tried fresh reinstall of PR, didnt help.

I have some cheap mouse which even does not have its own drivers to download. Can anyone give some advice?

If you could use more HW specs, ask right away (OS: win10).

Btw: would it be too much complicated to move to newer versions of mumble? The version in PR is from 2009 if I am right.

Edit: Teamspeak and some other game (Heroes and generals) recognize those buttons normaly

We won't be updating our mumble anytime soon. We have more important matters to do as there is nothing wrong with our Mumble version atm. It supports all hardware and does everything we want.

I have no issue with mouse button 4 and 5 so must be something clientside.

Is there any way to change the shortcut other than inside the mumble? I mean some text config file or whatever? I failed to find anything such, but if you knew...

Also, the reason for not upgrading mumble is competely right to me, I was just asking.

Not really, Mumble uses SQLLite to save confirguation. You can find it in at %appdata%\Project Reality\Project Reality Mumble . I wouldn't waste my time configuring it.

-You are using mumble itself to set shortcuts right? Do not use the launcher for it, It doesn't support all input types (Blame mats). You should launch mumble manually to configure it, Its at Project Reality BF2\mods\pr\bin\PRMumble

-Try deleting all files at that folder

-Try installing normal mumble and see if it works there. - https://wiki.mumble.info/wiki/Main_Page

Yea I agree with it, there are some settings I really want in PR mumble ("Hold time" specifically), but its not really on the priority list right now.

Managed to repair myself. Will post how as it might help someone in the future.

Went to Device manager.

Opened the Mouse and position device (or whatever is it called, I have system localized, mouse in the name is the lead)

With external mouse connected (I play on laptop) there were two same icons with name "Mouse compatible with HID"

If I plugged out the external mouse, one of the icons disappeared.

Right-clicked the one left there, choosed Forbid device.

Mumble works.

Side note: my uneducated guess is that drivers for mouse got installed twice for some reason and this was causing some software collision.

This can be closed now, thank everyone involved for the effort to help me.

I have the same problem as him!

I checked the device manager and I only have one external mouse detected. I switched the driver to its previous version and it keeps doing the same!

I erased the folder of PR Mumble and the game started without updating it, so I restored it again.

The mouse worked perfectly until two days ago I believe. I think it worked with the latest update (I dont remember). It works on other games. It should be mumble, but I had no issues until this week (I have been playing for a year PR)

One weird fact:

In the mumble window, both extra buttons act as the primary click. If I use them, it selects the options that were on the pointer. Maybe it is useful to understand whats going on.
