Just spent several hours downloading the game along with all the updates. Install went smooth with no errors, but i can't launch the game.

Right after i hit ''play'', the screen goes black and i get the message ''PR;BF2 has closed, cleaning up resources''.

What to do?

open in "windowed mode" and post error message here

did you install directx 9 manually?
windows 10 does not come with this older directx9 library

whats your display mode you choose?
exampleDisplay Mode: 1280x720@60Hz

only choose 60 hz version!

try choose " windowed" mode

Isn't DX 12 backwards compatible or does DX 9 still need to be downloaded?

You very probably do not need to download DX9
