Error 995 - staring with latest 1.5.4.5

Previously there was error 1301. This Verification Error turned out to be a problem on my OS. I reinstalled windows with an alternative service pack CD of XP. Verification now works fine.

So on new OS, verification is OK and I can login, no errors yet, this was 1.5.0.0 (un patched)

I then updated to latest version and this happens:

So to pin down which update it starts happening, I uninstalled PR, checked login process after manually applying each update. Verification and login was success up until 1.5.4.4.

Only after applying 1.5.4.4_to_1.5.4.5 does it fail but at least its not verification.

An observable difference with this error compared the previous one is that it happens almost instantly after Play is clicked. Previous verification error occurred after few seconds.

Google: the i/o operation has been aborted because of either a thread exit or an application request

Mats has assured me that nothing has changed in _1.5.4.5.

I lost count how many times I've reinstalled PR and OS now

My only advice would be to try Win7 to rule out that it is a WinXp issue.

could be XP, hardware or ISP issue.

I guess we can wait to see if any other XP users have this. I think its not the OS fault.

I have an Win 10 CD here but..... I do not have updated hardware for it, nor the financial means, or position for that :P

tl :d r weegeez is broke and broken, mats

Edit: posted a thread on msfn.org. Maybe someone knowledgeable will chime in.

{i have the same problem but it only started after the latest upgrade. there has to be something in the upgrade that affects windows xp service pack 3 users. i dont want to upgrade the computer to run a later version of windows. all was fine till the upgrade. look through the upgrade and find the problem. it has to be there somewhere. Im not a computer programer.

We already checked and nothing changed that should result in this sudden error on 1.5.4.5. Already tried to find the cause together with WeeGeez. This also seems to be solely a WinXp issue and since only around 0.2% of our players still use WinXp, we probably wont spend a lot more time investigating it. Sorry.
