Problems with loading times and performanc

Hello!

I've recently picked up PR again and i'm having some issiues with map loading times and performance

I installed PR and everything was fine for a week or two then things started to get wierd.
Maps started to take extremely long time to load, like 5+ minutes long, so i did a reinstall of PR and that fixed the problem for a few days, but it's back again now.

I'm also having some performance issiues with the game, where i'm getting low fps on settings apart from low.

Does anyone have fix for what i am experiencing?

Here's my specs

PR (BF2) likes intel... low latency memory...
I was using same cpu, ryzen 1600 overclocked to 3.8Ghz with fast RAM (3200Mhz CL14) and it was not taking too long to load the map, it was taking around 1 minute to load map.

With my new 9900K overclocked to 5Ghz, it takes 30~40 seconds to load the map :)

Try overclocking your CPU and RAM, disabling hyper threading (yes, this cal help) and also updating windows 10 to the latest version as it improved amd ryzen in some applications.

OR

Buy intel :)

I dont think you understood my problem. Or maybe i sentenced myself badly.

my loading times are usually pretty good(sub 1min) . but something happened which caused the load times to spike substansially for no good reason at all and i dont understand why.

i fixed it with a reinstall of PR but i do not want to do that every week.

Does not make any sense it getting slower after days... Is your drives in a good health?

Instead reinstalling PR, just use the function called "clear shadow cache" at support > utilities.

About low fps, not much you can do.. buy intel and be happy. With my old ryzen, i was getting around 30~35fps depending where i was and the direction i was looking at when playing Marlin with 100players. With 9900K, i am getting 55~60fps on the same scenario.

Launcher ---> Support ---> Utilities ---> Clear Shadow Cache --> Perform Task
You can perform all tasks in there actually. First loading will probably be really slow, but maybe the next ones will be faster. Worth a try I guess.

Can you check in properties in what windows compatibility mode is PR is running for you? I remember when i had it set to vista maps would take longer to load compared to when it was set to windows 8 compatibility mode.

I've tried the fixes you've mentioned and nothing's worked so far.

It's such a wierd "bug" that the install starts out healthy but degrades over time.

video drivers changed? clearing shader cache etc AGAIN or manually nuking the directory and then let it "optimize shaders" again on first map load should be sweet --- also you're not alt-tabbed are ya ? :-P if you take focus off PR to another window the load times pretty much idle i've noticed hahahahaha

Some suggestions:

1) Uninstalling Punkbuster Service since that isn't used.

2) Try setting audio to Hardware and High. There are some cases where it improves performances - and software audio doesn't sound good anyways.

3) Make sure the Virtual Memory is set to Automatically manage paging file size for all drives. Don't think it will do anything but worth a try:

4) Try reinstalling DirectX 9.0c

IMO sounds like you might have something in your background using up a lot of resources. Check with something like Resource Monitor; Open Task Manager -> Performance(tab) -> Resource Monitor(bottom) -> look for CPU usage and Disk Read.
