What is your opinion on the new Al Basrah standard and only layout guys? After 14 years of basrah it’s pretty weird to have the mainbase relocated on the down left corner of the map.
Only played it 2 times now as Insurgent Team and it’s a big game changer indeed.
What was the idea/purpose of putting it there? And what is the proper list of what has been changed since the previous Basrah we played for so many years?
Brits assets and Ins assets , respawn times changes and so on.
My 2 rounds outcomes: Yesterday INS won, today INS got rolled

Al Basrah is awful for the insurgents
The new map layout is fucking awful. It’s too easy to camp. And too far from the action. Especially if there are no other spawns or vehicles at main. It’s almost a 1km walk to the city. The previous layout was better in that regard. Atleast insurgents spawned in the action. But now, Blufor can just wait for insurgents to cross the border of dod and shoot them. No amount of admin assistance can fix broken map design. Insurgents as a whole are victims of bad map design. They can be spawn trapped on almost every single one of their maps. A single combat engy can hinder an entire team on Karbala. I’ve played four rounds of new Basrah and insurgents only won once. And that was because my team was asset wasting. Insurgents have a lot more structural problems as a team I will explain later.

Re: Al Basrah is awful for the insurgents
Definitely agree. Removing the mosque spawn does mess up the insurgents because there is so much open ground from their main. Other maps generally don't have this problem as bad because there is more cover and routes leading out of the INS main, but the combination of Warrior, Challenger, Scimitar and 40mm gmg Land Rover having huge sightlines over the southern portion of the map really isn't cool. Yeah the mosque spawn may have been slightly OP for INS but at least you could get into the city. Not many caches spawn near the center anyway. A competent blufor team should easily be able to win by camping the insurgent main.

Why didn't the devs use the K12 spawn, it was already used on the previous alt layout and it worked out fine in my opinion

Agree. Map is now broken. Map was good before, although INS were underpowered a little due to BLUFOR assets OP. The city spawn fixed this imbalance alot.
This is another disadvantage to the already underpowered INS team. There was no additional disadvantage added to the BLUFOR team as far as I can see.

I'll add to this with the shocking rate of caches spawning in the open air, instead of in a building, makes defending even worse against all of the stuff stacked in blufor's favor.

What if you replaced the Iraqi faction with HAMAS on this map? And also added more DShK technicals?

That wouldn't be realistic. It'd be a damn good time. Insurgents need a complete faction overhaul IMO.Nightingale wrote:What if you replaced the Iraqi faction with HAMAS on this map? And also added more DShK technicals?

I hundred percent agree.. It's the only insurgent faction that is actually a complete shit show in terms of organization, since the only kit you can request is medic, even when I play as ARF, HAMAS, Milita or Taliban the team is much more organized and people tend to actually stick around the cache and defend or something of the sorts. And before you say anything, Yes I know insurgents in real life aren't as organized as a conventional army, but they still have at least some form of training before they got thrown out into the warzone like monkeys, I'm sure that they would of at least organized people to do specific tasks.dcm wrote:That wouldn't be realistic. I've grown accustomed to the new spawn. It's fun fighting at mosque now.Outlawz7 wrote:Has been changed back to Mosque for next patch.
