PR:BF2 v1.6.5.0 Changelog

Post by Mats391 »

As stated in our end of the decade review we posted late last year, we are far from done with PR:BF2 development and today we want to show some of our work in the first big release of 2021. We hope you like it.

In our continued effort to modernize the old Battlefield 2 platform, this release sees some incredible improvements to the ingame menus and HUDs. Not only did we overhaul the style of in game menus, but also changed the HUD to properly support widescreen resolution and not stretch across entire screen. These advances for widescreen support have been achieved by Ekiso of the Forgotten Hope 2 development team who kindly shared them with us. Furthermore, we added a subtle optional focus effect to our ironsight weapons. This is something the PR Team has wanted to implement since forever but we now finally found a technical way to actually implement it in a proper way.

Lastly, there are some other things this release we would like you to find out for yourselves and we won't mention here. All we can say is that we have been striving for the highest possible standards of realism and scientific accuracy.

We hope you will enjoy this release. Let us know what you think and give us your feedback. And if you want to help us test any changes and new content for future releases, sign up as a tester today.

This update can now be downloaded through the PR Launcher. Enjoy!

Thanks, reproduced.
For now, if you can zoom in and C again it will free you. Going to low HP state, dying or alt tab also seems to reset it.

R-Devs still not happy with the removal of minimap from vehicles, now the map got NERFED (being from transparent to solid) :d uh:

Just another unnecessary change that NONE asked :? ??:

+ Why you rdev had to humiliate hollywood with Flat Earth map?

Yeah I'd say HUD changes are a downgrade. Making HUD minimalistic and "modern" doesn't inherently make it better. Right now it just looks incohesive at best, def looked better before.

The moon on Flat Earth causes game to crash when firing as a weapon. The Debug assertion failed! says ... Dont ever remove this Flat Earth map, it has so much terrain change and faction potential. Command and Control... search the world for enemy FOB.

Flat earth, 5G corona towers and ship stuck in Suez. Whoever made the map really outmemed ourselves this time. And that's only after like a quick look...

The moon LOD freaks me out a bit though.

Hey Guys, although welcomed, the Widescreen fix seems a bit extreme. Is there anyway to decrease the FOV a little? I don't want to sound dramatic but it's giving me headaches.

Mirroring this thought myself. I like the 'attempt', but I think this was a case of "fixing something that was not broken" and in doing so actually made it worse. It's not a case of "well its been the other way for 15 years I just dont like this" - I'm all for optimization and modernization... but "the old way", well, everything was a bit bigger, even if it looked a little funny, it worked well.

Haven't played the new map yet, hope to at some point before it dies.

Thanks for your efforts!
