[Faction Concept] Chile 1978
Hello there! Ive saw that PR has many of the assets i would need for this faction, so i took it upon myself to start working on it.
Design Plan: http://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1 ... sp=sharing
Now, you must be asking why 1978?
Well for context:
In December 22th 1978 the Beagle conflict was at its peek, the Argentinean Navy was mere hours away from a naval invasion of the Islands of Picton, Nueva and Lennox, near Cape horn, but it was clear this would start a major south american war as the Chilean and Argentinean forces were distributed throught one of the largest borders in the world, with major movement of troops in Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego.
Luckily, bad weather and intervention by the Pope prevented the war on D-day near H-hour before shots were fired .
I wanted to explore what would happen if the conflict had gone hot so i began working on some maps and other stuff.
If you want to help this faction to be realized here is a list of things needed in order of priority:
HIGHEST PRIORITY:
M41 Walker Bulldog:
F-5 Tiger II
HIGH PRIORITY:
Willys MB Jeep + M40 Recoiless Rifle
Medium Priority:
UNIMOG 416 (locally called 426)
CZ-75/ FN 750
Barceló-class torpedo boat
Low Priority:
- Hawker Hunter FGA. Mk 71 Fighter Bomber
- Mauser 1912 (scoped)
The Argentine Forces
Well considering this faction´s rival will be the Argentine Armed Forces, some assets are being worked on for them too. But the major one that is needed for them is the
Higgins 78 ft PT Boat
M4 Sheman Repotenciado(WIP By anantdeathhawk)
Work in progress:
Chilean Army Infantry
Swiss SIG 510-4 (WIP by ANW1173):
FAMAE PAF
Some Retextures:
Locations:
Currently there are 4 maps planned, 2 have have been started but only one of them has been detailed enough to actually show With 3 of the maps planned to involve more Naval combat with the use of Logistic LCVPs and Attack boats.
Beagle Channel and Puerto Natales have not been begun development so if you are a mapper you are more than welcome to give a hand.
Operation Soberania:
Special Thanks to Hans_Strudel, Rhino, ANW1173, anantdeathhawk and PotatoLord.
Thanks for reading

As mentioned, it will be Argentina as historically it was their intention to invade back in 78. They will be using their Falklands and goose green assets plus the M4 Sherman Repotenciado, M113s, M3 Half-tracks and LCVPs(and hopefully, if someone is up for it: Higgins Torpedo Boats) . Fictional layers might be against other cold war factions like the British from 82 or, despite being similar in uniform, vietnam USAOperator_Max1993 wrote:interested in this Faction

Re: [Faction Concept] Chile 1978
IDF:FFI already have one of these and I'm sure they would be willing to let us use it or trade it
BTW one of the low priority things for the Falklands is to replace the SPG-9 with the M40 RR for the Argentine Deployable AT weapon, as although it's not totally the correct weapon, the Model 1968 Recoilless Gun is, the Model 1968 RR is based on the M40 and would be a better fit with a reskin:
The model is a bit on the low poly side thou so ideally would want to be reworked but don't think its worth it.

Operation Soberania map update:
https://www.realitymod.com/forum/showth ... ost2213816
WIP video: https://youtu.be/g7yXeu68Oy0
Map will be set during the early morning in the magellan strait. Its a 4KM with a focus on CAS, Tanks, and boats, with the latter 2 not being hard to destroy by infantry as they are lightly armored compared to modern map tanks.

Re: [Faction Concept] Chile 1978
Hey there! With an update post here again!
https://www.realitymod.com/forum/showth ... ost2215709
Work on Cape Horn has begun, it is still in very Early stages but the terrain and layout has already been defined.
Taking place in Picton, Lennox and Nueva Islands, the disputed islands that originated the conflict.
The Argentines will begin on an Aircraft carrier having access to A-4Q Skyhawks, LCVPs, PT boats and transport helis.
(multiple Aircraft added for dramatic effect)
Meanwhile the Chileans will begin on Navarino Island to the west, also with Boats, transport helis and PT boats, an off-map airbase will have to be made for the Chileans to have their own airbase but a small dirt runway for slower more agile Prop-planes is still being reviewed as an alternative.

This faction might be the FIRST ONE that employes the classic CZ-75.
And it's fantastic!

also, hope the PR devs and modders are alive and well
still waiting for Norwegian, Finnish, Brazilian, Australian and New Zealand and Czech forces (hope for Danish, Swedish, Japanese and Swiss forces too), though it's very unlikely we will ever see that kind of content...
anyways, it does make me happy the community is still alive, kind of, and also wishing Ismaelassassin best of luck with the Chilean forces (plus it's cool to see the CZ-75 in PR)
