Starting first game

Post by Not2Likely »

I've got my shiny new installation, and the game starts up just fine. I've navigated to cooperative local game, I set the options for one player maximum and 20 bots, so I can just get familiar with the controls. I hit deploy.

The screen that comes up next---I took a screenshot but apparently can't upload it---says PRESS ESCAPE TO ABORT YOUR DEPLOYMENT. There's an image of a street scene on most of the screen, there's a mini-map at upper right. There's a text box about Co-Operative Mode, there's a text box that says Welcome to a Project Reality server!

All very nice. Now I need to spawn, yes? I'm not seeing any SPAWN button, clicking on spawn points on the mini-map has no effect. I see lots in the manual about where to spawn but not how. If this is the right question...how do I spawn?

You select a white dot and press SPAWN. You may also double click the white dot.

I believe I've asked the wrong question. This image shows the screen I'm looking at. I don't seem to get a response by clicking anywhere at all, only if I hit ESC.

Loading progress bar and the button which actually lets you enter the game are behind your windows taskbar. If you wait long enough, the game will automatically move you to the actual spawn screen 30 seconds after the loading is finished. It shouldn't take more than 3 minutes. However, your taskbar will still hide crucial UI elements.

You should either play fullscreen, lower the resolution or hide your taskbar.
