More LODs and COLs
Over the past few days (or weeks/months if you include the rest of the help ) I've been helping Drav with getting the BTR-80 fixed up for export with cleaning the model up, fixing any bugs etc and for today and yesterday I've been busy making the Levels of Detail (LODs) and Collision Meshes (COLs) for the BTR-80 as the final thing before it gets shipped off to exporters
Ended up making 4 LODs for this model, with LOD0 starting at over 10k tris and with the last LOD(3) ending up at 879tris. I also made the 3 common collision meshes that control how the object interacts with the game. Col0, the Decal Collision Mesh is used for detecting what parts of the model projectiles like bullets or tank shells can hit the object and where they hit. Col1, the Physics Col is used to detect if anything rams the vehicle or if it can fit though that narrow street and how it generally interacts with the environment around it when moving. Col2, the Player col is used for detecting if the player is touching the vehicle, if he is standing on it, what parts the player can stand on and even if he is getting run over by the vehicle
Anyways enough talk here they are

How much more powerful are these ones going to be than btr60, are these ones gonna have better armor or cannon? what about speed and stuff.

ye its pretty poly heavy for an APC but shouldn't be a problem performance wise. Would still recommend to make a APC around 6k to 8k trisHauteclocque;bt2077 wrote:10K tris for an APC ?! This one must be huge and heavily detailed ! Our last (French Forces Factories) APC only does the tri number of your LOD1 !
ye hehe, the exact difference will be determine after its exported but I'm guessing something like 300m+ (without being scoped in) you will see LOD3 after so you will only be able to make out the basic outline from that distance, if you scope in it will move up a LOD or 2 naturally, the important thing for the final LOD is that there is something there in its rough shape and colourcharliegrs;bt2079 wrote:Im guessing LOD3 is for when the vehicle is REALLY far away lol

I wouldn't think so..[wow]titan;bt2075 wrote:its make a disbalance
Light : Medium : Heavy
US Army Stryker : N/A : Bradley
USMC AAV7PA1 : LAV-25 : N/A
MEC N/A : BTR-60 : BMP-3
PLA WZ551A : WZ551 : N/A
GB N/A : Warrior : N/A
Rus N/A : BTR-80 : BTR-80A : BMP-3
The APC classes themselves are really spread out and dependent on the faction.
I would say the BTR-80A would be the equivalent to the BTR-90 which was the equivalent to the LAV-25. An extra medium APC never hurt.
Plus, with Russia having one of the largest armored corps in the world...its quite believable. Variety never hurt.
