The New C4 / FOB / Cache Gameplay Changes

Post by K4on »

Hello,

time to update you guys about the PR 1.0 C4 vs Firebase, Vehicle, Ammocache gameplay changes.

Following has changed for the conventional forces:

- C4 for conventional forces will be available in a small and a large model

- the large model is a bit more than twice as strong, and only available for the CombatEngineer, while the small C4 is handed out to the specialist too

- both types of C4 will be time detonated now (basically removes ability to ambush)

- C4 is defuseable by the CombatEngineer, in case the C4 was misplaced

- FOBs are not knifeable anymore, and only killable by C4 or other high explosive devices, and big calibers used by vehicles

- Caches are effectively killable by C4 only and it takes longer to plant the c4, to simulate a proper EOD work. This also helps to prevent "ninja" cache destroying

- To blow a cache successfully with one C4 (doesn't matter if big or small) it needs to be planted directly on the cache - means killing caches through walls isnt that easy anymore

The video below is pretty old, the C4 deploy times and the detonator, the effects and minor other things have changed for example, but the shown gameplay mechanics are the same:

way better than buggy thermite!
but i dont like that they still stick to vehicles. I dont see a reason for this as it only encourages "ninjas" that try to kill manned vehicles with C4.

did the vehicle`s engine get disabled by the first small c4 or is it just a new engine sound?

feels like its gonna be alot harder now to disrupt enemy supply lines (aka: these changes have ruined the mod even though I haven`t played i yet..)

good work

Awesome! Curious how this plays out. I guess you now need to really take over the enemy firebase and clear the area before attempting to destroy it fully. Instead of sending a ninja over there while you're still assaulting

Do we have time to deploy 2 small C4 on a truck before the 1st detonate ? Or we have to plant one, get cover and come back ?

Realy a nice feature. I hope the fobs will then be limeted to max 2, to prevent endless spawnwaves of enemys.
Even now its only FOB vs. FOB who destroys the enemy FOB gets the flag.

FOBs should function more like a limeted spawn joker and for defending a position with assets (MG, TOW). Not only to spawn like headless chickens and rush the enemy with brut amount of players and not teamplay and tactic.
(Same is for the rally points.)

So I can't kill a fob unless I have C4 or something bigger? Well, I usually don't walk around with C4 so I can't take out the fob then I'll just have to spawn camp it. Thank you for making the "I dont have anything to kill it" excuse so I can get my K/D up.

Edit by DEV:
FOB will be still overrun. But if you wanna leave it without destroying, people can respawn again and take revenge.

fair point, but than just spawn camp until you kill a specialist, than you have no excuse lol

btw, all is good, keep it up.

Not very realistic ... one C4 no matter of size should make the vehicle unusable (if placed correctly) except from the heavy armored ones.

Finally! you dont know how upsetting it is when you spend 20+ minutes building defenses and hideouts around the cache only to lose by a lone wolf with a c4 kit the plants the c4 50 meters from the cache.
