Sangin - another sneak peak...
A screenshot taken by [R-DEV]Rabbit in recent playtesting:
An updated (but slightly out of date) minimap:
And a quick video (pretty basic as I shot it on my own using two pcs ):

The map will be fairly demanding on systems, as you can probably imagine, but Rhino is working hard to ensure the compound statics will help with performance and if necessary there are other steps I can take which will improve things performance wise. I've got Nightwolf's pc at my place until he gets a new place which is as old as the hills so I'm using that to help check performance on lesser systems. The view distance is 1km.

You should have posted that pic of the guys walking into a compound Ranky, it was better than that one and didn't show the final LODs of the statics so close up since the LOD distances aren't coded yet
For guys on the ground, especially if in or near a compound, performance should be pretty good as the .occ meshes from all the high walls and buildings should mean that you in fact are having to render very little of the stuff around you, only the stuff you can see which if inside a high walled compound, that's only going to be the stuff inside of your compound and the odd trees you can see sticking up above the height of the walls etc.
From the air however the .occ meshes aren't going to be doing much if anything at all and as a result, some systems will possibly be struggling a bit with it but for people with those systems that do have a problem in the air, which I should stress should only be the really old systems, I would just advise those players to stick to ground combat (or if they desperately want to fly, upgrade their system) since as mentioned above, that should be much better for FPS and for the odd time your being transported around in a Chinook the odd bit of lag isn't going to hurt to much for that either.
I should note that my system and most other we have tested with have little to no performance problems on the map, and I've yet to do the .occ meshes for the walls yet.
This map is likley going to have two sets of performance. Those for guys on the ground and those for guys flying in the air.Antol.PL;bt9908 wrote:Could you tell about performance of your map? FPS? Because im little worried about it when looking at minimap.

Biggest View Distance in PR is in fact 3km, seen on The Falklands. The next largest VD down from that iirc is Khamisiyah which has a 1.3km VD so while it is a much higher VD than most other maps in PR, its not the largest but it certainly is a good VD, much higher than most other PR mapsAntol.PL;bt9911 wrote:1km view.... biggest in PR!

We have made some progress with multiple factions with different voice sets on the same map but have yet to test it fully but things are looking quite good with it so far so hopefully we should see both the Brits and the USMC on this map but no promisesTurner;bt9918 wrote:I was hoping for it to be Marines. Maybe as an Alt version? Even still, looks nice!
