Let me begin with a big big thanks to the whole PR community and the PR team for those great years I've had here!
From my first days in PR 0.7 fighting on servers like BattleArena, Thors Brigade or Tactical Gamer, to nowadays where BloodyDeed and I are running the popular New Era Warfare Server, PR:BF2 has always been a blast to me in both ways:
pushing out the latest PR updates as an R-DEV, or playing the game myself.
However, due to several private reasons, my time has come to say goodbye and retire from PR - at least for now.
Of course writing a blog just about that would be boring hey , so I created a small present for the community as well:
A PR v1.2 Retro Mappack, including 6 maps from the good old 0.7 era, updated for PR 1.2.
Honestly I wasn't able to spend too much time on it, so the maps are lacking proper localizations, updated minimaps and base protections such as carrier shields, but I'm still positive that this won't spoil all fun as long as there is FairPlay.
The balancing is based on the v0.7 layouts or past events with a few adjustments for 1.2, so feedback is appreciated.
And yeah, here finally some details :
The Retro Mappack includes following maps for PR:BF2 v1.2:
- Al Kufrah Oilfield Retro (the clash of tanks).
- EJOD Desert Retro (the classic).
- Qwai River Retro (asymmetrical warfare at dusk).
- Songhua Stalemate Retro (swampy infantry combat).
- Steel Thunder Retro (forest skirmish with armor support).
- Zatar Wetlands Retro (CounterAttack mode based - defend until reinforcements arrive).
Things you have to deal with:
- Be sportsmanlike and play fair, as there are no mainbase protections.
- Recommended number of players is ~70 (depending on map).
- Maps require more team coordination especially at start.
- Heavy assets respawn after 20 minutes.
- DoDs can be found on loading maps.
- No grids/DoDs marked on minimaps.
- Only one layout per map.
- No proper localizations.
- No COOP Support.
- No UAVs.
- JDAMs.
Cheers,
K4on
Note:
This is NOT an official mappack by the PR:BF2 team, so please keep in mind
to stick within the PR server license rules when hosting a server with this mappack.
PS: There will be Retro Mappack events hosted by [NEW]&[3dAC].
