Connection problems getting on your bloddy nerves?

Ah yes billy boy, I have figured out the solution for my fellow forum goers. The solution is when you get a Connection Server Problems in the middle of the screen, quickly press ESC button. Wait 2 seconds then press ESC again and your connection will be restored. It works for me and now I can play hours. Now all that gets me is EA's connection boot bug :-x

Really? how does that make sense...

I'll try it next time that problem comes up and report back.

You say it does not work for EA's boot bug, how is that different than the normal connection problems bug I'm thinking of?

I don't know it just works for me.When I see my modem all of a sudden freeze then when I press ESC and wait 2 seconds, all the modem lights start to flicker and the connection is restored. It's kinda weird but it works.

What I meant by connection boot bug was when you're all of a sudden playing and it kicks you and then says, Your connection to the server is lost in the main menu. You're not even in the game anymore.

The one you get in the middle of the screen during play which is yellow is the one I'm talking to press ESC and then wait 2 seconds and press ESC again and your connection somehow is restored. Works for me.

So they can macro the ESC to when there is a connection problem?

does the game crash when you get this connection problem?

1-You Get The Yellow Message That Says "Theres Problem With Your Connection"
2-When u get That Message U Need To Press ESC
3-When u Get To The Main BF2 Lobby Then
4-U Press ESC Again To Get Back In The Game, and u Will Be All Set

Note*: I Hope This Get Fix, but for Now Use The Workaround Solution.
(THX For Making It a Sticky)

A possible fix, close everything related to a program named "netlimiter"(from task manager, exiting program isnt enough) b4 playing,if you are using this software :)

My experience:i was having 2-3 seconds long connection problems about every 10 minutes.Well infact this may not seem like a problem but it is infact a big problem especially when trying to land a full squad to a cramped space then connection problem occurs, you crash the heli "learn flying in sp u awful noob" type comments :) .
Hope it helps

This works!!

No disrespect but when i 1st read this some time back, i thought it sounded sketchy at the best.. but blow me it works like a charm.

Recently these connection problems have got worse for me.. and this bloody works 95% of the time.

In over 20 years of trying computer 'fixes', this was one of the most surprising. Good job

I'm getting these problems whenever I join a server now, it happens all the time. This solution worked once or twice but after a while another connection problem would pop up, I'd press esc but the background video would freeze after a few seconds and then I'd lose the connection to the server.

Whats going on exactly?

Yah... I don't see many replies to this sticky but the "solution" does not work...

I've read every post on connection problems spending a veeerryy long time reading up on it and decided it isn't "my" problem... but that of the DEVS...

I have never seen these sort of disconnection problems with any game, any mod ... any internet application, professional or gaming...

I had my fair share of disconnections in previous PR releases but nothing like what I have with the BETA.

This is how it goes...

I join a server... I load in like 1 minute or less and I'm clicking on the JOIN GAME button...everything fine... the game screen pops up and I normally see "the server has switched you to the other side" ... or "you have changed teams" .... this message sits there for sometimes, 1-2 minutes, along with the chat text of players which slowly loads. I can't get the spawn menu up or anything, so I wait.

Evenutally the game seems to do what I call... "synchronizes" and I am able to select my weapon and where I wanna spawn. Sometimes and I say sometimes, I can be disconnected at this time. I've selected where i wanna spawn and boom as smooth as ever I am back to the server list with a "You lost connection to the server".

And other times I am able to play for a couple minutes before I either freeze for a couple seconds (sometimes a minute) and ... yah you guessed it... DISCONNECTED FROM SERVER...

and alot of the time I dont even get a "there is a problem with your connection" message...sometimes I am immersed into the game, speaking to squad mates on VOIP, healing somebody, or about to shoot the hell out of a support truck full of engineers with their shovels out and I'm like OMG im going to kill so many guys! THIS IS GREAT!... staring closely at the screen, to blink one second open my eyes and I'm staring at a message that says..."You have lost connection"...

annoying right?

Some things I know...

It's not my computer...

It's not my internet connection...

and it's not my router, firewall or anything else you wanna try and tell me...

so from my end of things... "the player"...

I JUST DONT KNOW...

...Sad

I've asked a lot of people in the VOIP to see what they do when they get connection problems, most say they press the "ESC" button during direct gameplay and leave it on for a few seconds.

It works for most people, should work for you. If not, it might be a problem with your internet. Sometimes, I get connection lost but it's because of the DSL.

'[PR wrote:ARRC|Gringo'] at least u found a fix for the problem that the Devs werent looking forward to fix.
FYI, if there's someone who should (and can) address this its DICE, not us. Hopefully you can understand that simple situation.

1. I have had this problem for ages and ESC key didn't solve it for me. I get "There is problem with your connection" always after map has loaded when I'm using VoIP and server has lot of players. Usually can connect on server if there is few players, or by disabling VoIP, when there is never a connection problem after map load. EA support suggested to run BF2 in XP compatibility mode in Vista, but that didn't solve anything and exactly the same problem has occured in XP too. It's strange that some full servers still work with VoIP, but there is very few of them in Vanilla and if I remember correctly only TV2 Norway has worked in PR. Some have said at forums that there is problem with VoIP Server interference, so it would actually be a server setup issue.

2. There is a CTD with 0.609 (VoIP hasn't have any part of it): It is usually possible to play one level and about half of the other, then CTD. Didn't have this with 0.5, it started at 0.6 open beta saying something about memory error. I looked few forums and some had recognized the issue >2 GB memory bug within BF2 altought never have had it in Vanilla.

3. Welcome to Bugfield 2, you are so right ;)

Im just curious what facts you have to support this statement?

When i let my buddies boys play on BF2, they hardly ever get disconnected. Then the second i jump on PR, its happening frighteningly frequently.

Happens to me in any BF2 related game, random disconnects all of teh time. I have noticed that especially on Kashan Desert, I load in and the spawn screen takes a long time to get there. In the meantime, I see the buildings in the desert being built wall by wall???????

Hi Everybody,

I just want to add my 2 cents to the connection problem issue. I have to say that the "ESC" solution doesn't seem so weird to me, because the problem can be related to some process, maybe an IRQ request made by some process, that is stopped by pressing the "esc" and return to menu.
Another coin I want to add is that I lowered my ping and made the connection more stable by closing all not needed ports on router. This prevented the continous DCOM exploit attack and LSASS attack that make the antivirus (Avast Free home edition in my case) continuosly operate and substract processor time and interfere with the net.
hope this will help.
