RequieM: ".......but to change the gameplay in a way that requires a lot more tactical thought & teamwork"...
I have noticed that within the team of this project there are quite a few military (active or veteran) people...I was wondering what all you guys think is the most realistic/tactical teamwork based online game?
Americas Army, i have to say Ghost recon is up their to. but AA in my opinion is definitly the most realisitic one, but why wouldn't be, it's designed by the army itself
Operation flashpoint.
However old it is and no matter how annoying the voices are I think it has one of the best multiplayers (especially driving a tractor around a warzone).
Actually I prefered to play OFP in coop games the most. Had a nice little crew that I used to play with too. A few weeks ago found out one of them that used to make mods for that game actually got a job at BIS and is working on OFP2.
I downloaded the mp demo..and i messed about 5-10 mins with it...(no more time to play..damn work..lol)
I see what u mean..very realistic physics and balistics/aiming is very promising for a tactical teamwork based game...
Are there any servers still up for that game..or strong community with clans?
Going back to BF2 mod...do u reckon u gonna get enough access to the code in order to be able to modify the physics + balistics/aim..?
ya i played OFP for a bit, quite interesting, esspecially the tanks, and buildings are destroyable, man i'd like to get 100 player battles in one of those maps
You can get 100 players in Joint operations...but very arcadish game....u can shoot someone who is hiding behind a tree from 1160-180meters...running at the same time with 25km/h and looking down ur iron sights as well...
with about 85 pounds at ur back including 2 at4s...u can run 100meters in about 15 secs...constantly and as long as you want in this game....
a medic with about 30 pounds load can do 100meters in 13.5 secs...no wonder why they look like rabbits running down the hill..

Don't believe everything you read. In most instances, their dev team puts realism and military accuracy aside and focuses mainly on the "fun gameplay" area. Which was evident when they released the U.S. Army Special Forces aspect of the game.
