Starting Off With a Good Metal Base

Well, i made some metal base that looks great.

At first sight most of you will think 'HUH?'
But maybe darken it a tad (-10 or so.) and skin it, adjust contrast and brightness after that, and the texture! (like in photoshop/filters>sharpen>sharpen) 1 or two times.
You could get some really neat looking metal of this base.
(I however use a slightly different one, skinners secret ;-) )

Here;

I have skinned a little bit (soon to be much more) but I just take textures off photographs, beat them into shape and apply.

Or is this for the bump map/gloss/etc?

Well this sheet will be used as a base (metal materials) on weapons and then the texture artist make variations and such to make this sheet of metal base into all of the different metal textures on the weapon.

Hey there. I got motivation to redo my skin for my KA-BAR for the 4th or 5th time now. I have a good base with included layers to modify the look for anyone to use if they want it. 1024x1024 PSD document for download.

Render using the slightly modified base-
