First time out on the field

Post by Sordirsin »

Hey, my first post here and first day playing PR. I have to say, it's definitely a big difference from vanilla BF2; doesn't even feel like I'm playing the same game. It's much more tactical and teambased compared to vBF2, which I'm happy about. I just need to get my mic working in-game. The maps feel massive and matches last quite a long time.

Well, I joined a 64 player server on, I think, Fool's Road. I quickly squaded up with a few people and let them know it was my first time (I'm not sure how the PR community is with noobs in their squads), but luckily they accepted me. Since I wasn't quite sure what the hell I was doing, I just stuck by the Squad Leader and followed his orders. Managed to kill 2 to 4 guys, but died about 10 times (this normal for a first time play-through?). I quickly learned that stealth is key, but I couldn't pull off any long shots with the ironsights. Maybe the optical scopes will be a bit better. Our squad didn't see too much action, but we did get into some resistance when we capped a flag. Was blown up several times in the jeep, unfortunately. Our driver didn't see the mines in front of us =[. So yeah, that's pretty much how my first game went. Hopefully I'll start getting the hang of this mod and kill a few more people to help the team out. So... yeah

Well, you've obviously realised VOIP is part of the gaming in PR.

How do people cope with silent games in vBF2 though when squads don't stick together, everyone runs off, you can't rely on anyone to watch your back or provide detailed information on troop movements? Every man for himself must be pretty wearing!
