KHARA V0.88 - Change List
This version will play correct and is not much further away from being final
Features:
British vs Insurgents.
Northern Afghanistan based map.
Fight from lush poppie crops to high Afghanistan hills.
Long and hard mountain pass the British will have to travel.
British Outpost with sniper rifle over looking the valley.
Many mountain trails.
British Goals
Push the Insurgents out of the valley. Only then can the British receive [Apache] air power. Then proceed into the mountains and find the Insurgent base.
Insurgents Gaols
The British have been cutting down valuable poppie fields. With nothing to lose attack the British outpost and keep the valley clean of the British army.

Map:
+ Undergrowth has been re-optimized
+ Newer light map and optimized
+ Surrounding Map has finally been fixed and light
Game play:
+ More houses have been placed in the hills
+ Insurgent random rally points have been mixed up
Visual:
+ Undergrowth has been set to a good distance
*Issues
- Sometime you can see hole in the land mesh (BF2 problem)
- Tress need a good randomization on there rotations (all look the same direction).
Feel free to host it and play it. There wont be any updates until the middle of next week.

Awesome! But a Question. If this is going to be an Insurgent map will it be Taliban? And if so can you put atleast 1 scoped rifle to even the odds? Because Op archer right now is a USMC campfest with their long range scoped M16's(Aka Semi Sniper Rifles)

The hill will be kept very rough to simulate a real mountain and to allow the insurgents to climb around.
Thanks for the smiles Spaz.
and DavidP, this map will be very hard for the UK. Allot of Air power (choppers) will need to be used against a very well dug in enemy.

Euhm, you say the mountains will be like that so the insurgents can climb on it.
I think you will have to add A LOT of rocks (objects) where ropes can stick at.
Looks VERY nice anyway,..
all those afghan maps.. inspirating...

looks promising so far!
a minimap would be nice to get an overall idea.
i see you're using the birch trees if i'm right. not sure if they fit in an afghanistan layout since i don't think they're growing over there.

did you use "random" tool for these mountains? because then it will be hard to walk on them and players will get stucked in all those holes and stuff...
but anyway it looks really good...i'll try to use this method for my map right now

@marcoelnk - As far as the mountains I used real height maps from a location. Then built from it.
[R-CON]Hans Martin Slayer - Yeah I know the trees arent correct yet, more or less of a stand in.
@Jantje|NL^ - The mountains are very jagged, not sure if the GH will stick but I think it help get rid of the easily spotted solider silhouette you see in every map.

Well I started Tuesday, but I think I will have a alpha coming up soon. I did a little test walk/drive around the map and I think people will enjoy it. I kept allot of rugged land to hide behind.
I still have allot to do, in fact I pulled out the attack chopper because all the houses are destroyable and it doesn't take long to clear a map. Until I move it over to a insurgency map and test the heli its staying our for now. Unless I just go over the devs and boosted the respawn rate WAY up.

real heightmap? what do you mean with that?are you using terragen or L3DT?
my question was how you made these mountains so uneven and stuff.
One small tip: to make the screens look more impressive you should push all the editor bars (resources,tweaker-bar...) to the edge of your screen and then take the screen

I think he means he downloaded some real heightmap data from some place in the world and used it in his map. There is a tutorial for this here:
