Zombie Night at Tactical Gamer

Post by waldo_ii »

A bit of background first.

Everyone knows this, but .756 is getting a bit dull. The same maps over and over, everything is pretty routine. So, the masterminds at Tactical Gamer have come up with ways to spice it up a bit- Scenario nights. What happens is a member comes up with a scenario (Example: The first SN was that brits get a single life and had to kill a specific person in the mosque on Basrah. The insurgents get two lives. The brits get 45minutes. After that, the protected person "escapes"), and if the admins OK it, then they set up the server on a certain night and the admins watch over it and make sure no one is breaking the rules.

So, the latest attempt at scenario night was pwn3ge106's "Stranded" night. Basically, there were two spec ops guys on the hotel in Jabal, and the USMC has to rescue them. MEC get two lives, USMC get only one. MEC get 2 SA-7 rockets, thats it. Unfortunately, not enough people showed up, so the admins decided to do a different suggested scenario: Zombie night.

The rules to Zombie Night are as follows: There are only a few brits and tons of insurgents. The insurgents can only use knives, the brits can use any kit except Auto Rifle (it was deemed overpowering). It was usually 1 brit per 5-7 zombies. When a brit died, they became a zombie. The goal of the brits was to get to the mosque and stay there for two minutes.

Amazing fun. TheGreatNardini and Charity_Case lasted the longest, staying in the mosque for 30 seconds. My best run lasted only a few minutes. My two buddies both got wiped out before I did, and I managed to fend off 35 zombies with at least 12 clips before being knifed by Nardini.

Somebody should make a "zombie" version of Al Basrah, 'Al Basrah-ZOMB'. Make it at night with the moon & super thick fog so zombies can spring out of nowhere and really make it hairaising/challenging. Do a zombie skin for insurgents and a normal person skin for Brits. Hardcode it so zombSurgents only have knife or maybe no knife just a punch. Give CivBrits a choice of either handgun or shotgun (put ironsites on it) and there you go. I'd play that for sure. It could be rotated with regular PR when people want a fun break. I would do it but I don't know jack about bf2 level editor.

Let's not get carried away Defiyur, I'm sure the Dev team have enough work on as it is. It's just a little fun to pass time during the "oh8 w8". Shotgun ironsights is a no-go (just search for the thread).

Excellent video btw :-o

There's no getting carried away when it comes to zombie mini-mods. What can I say I love survival horror. :)

I think you should have pistols and shotgun only so that you can start with a majority as the 'good guys'
The restricted fire power also means the game isnt going to last forever

Mhm. More 'realistic' too in terms of the zombies starting out with one infected guy, who then spreads the infeciton :p

I love survival games as much as the next guy don't get me wrong man. Hell, I even collect zombie flicks. All I'm saying is that I would rather have PR 0.8 right now as Devs are working so hard making it :-)

Don't you agree that perhaps it's better then to just look somewhere else? We got Resident Evil 5 incoming

I agree but I was thinking that somebody other than the devs could do it just as a fun mini-mod within a mod. I'm used to community members taking the initiative since the last game I was involved with (Red Orchestra)had people making various mods of it on their own. I know the devs have much better things to do (PR) just wishful thinking not expecting them to make it but it would be fun if it was, lol.
