[AAR] Wrath of the Cobra

Post by Tartantyco »

-I was playing on Muttrah a few hours ago on the USMC side as SL of the VOIP INF squad and we were pinned down at the building south of the parking lot just east of North City. The enemy had built a FOP on the street a bit north of the East City flag and they had an APC down there, we had .50 cals, assault rifles, and the APC firing in our general direction. One of my SMs suggested I laze the target and I did, despite the low success ratio of any of my laser designations. I peak out the corner, manage to laze dead on the FOP and pop back behind the corner to avoid the rain of bullets. So, I sit back, the sound of all that firepower focused on this small building ringing in my ear, twiddle my thumbs, and assume that nothing will happen. 5 seconds after the laser designation we hear a deafening roar as the Cobra unleashes all it's firepower on the FOP, APC, and any infantryman unfortunate enough to be in close proximity. After the barrage there was nothing but silence and the distant sound of the Cobra's rotor. Me and my squad just sat there for a while pondering what on earth had struck just moments ago as the charred remains of what used to be a potent force lay twitching on the side of the road just south of us.

hehe nice, take it you did a little more than just lase the target, IE, tell the commander or if no commander, type on chat the grid of the lase etc? otherwise it would have been most likely pure luck that cobra came along and destroyed the area :D

i assume it was a hot flag, and on a map like Muttrah not too much of luck.

Nice story, and well done.

Believe that was Me and my friend Talon, (we both remember seeing the VOIP INF squad) he was flying and I was gunning. (He can fly much better than I can) But he had been talking to the commander about a Firebase in the area, so we cruised over. Don't think I saw the lase, but we for sure saw the area described. First couple fly by's I saw a US Hummer, so I was not sure if it was completely hostile so I didn't fire, but when we saw a IGLA with a MEC guy on it we decided it was hot. Next pass Talon flew like 2 feet off the ground, so the AA guy could not see over the wall and when we reached the wall he popped up and I sent all 7 Missiles a-fly. First shot the IGLA guy flew off his post, then the command truck went, then I couldn't see anything because it was too dusty :P That was a really good round, glad you guys enjoyed the show :D

I love those kind of moments. I was in the Cobra yesterday too, saw 2 command trucks, a bunch of troops building afirebase by the hotel so I shot 2 rockets in there, loads of bodies fly up in the air. Squad member goes "press tab and take a look at what you ddid to the enemy team" like 75% of the enemy team was dead lol.
